Eaton India Innovation Center (EIIC) has an opening for engineering manager, Application Engineering in the Global Crouse-hinds, B-Line and Oil & Gas division. This position will be based in Pune, India.

The incoming engineering manager is primarily responsible for leading & managing an engineering team on design and development of Harsh and Hazardous Area products. He/ she will be responsible for supporting Engineering To Order (ETO) portfolio for Crouse Hinds & Bline products, driving for a culture of learning and continuous improvement while executing the projects,implementing the roadmap for developing capabilities in line with the strategic plan over the next few years, building organizational capability and required technical expertise required to develop electromechanical products, hiring, retaining and grooming talent to deliver high performance on portfolio execution.

+ Provide technical leadership to the team to execute projects and make day to day engineering decisions.

+ Interface with commercial teams in understanding customer needs and turnaround designs to secure business wins.

+ Track projects progress and provides regular reports on operations and support activities.

+ Work with internal functions (sourcing, manufacturing etc) to deliver high quality optimized cost-effective designs on-time.

+ Use modern engineering practices to monitor the productivity of the engineering team in order to drive continuous improvement.

+ Document all design practices, standard procedures and lessons learned to ensure consistency and performance.

+ Drive growth & accelerate capability development in line with business strategy.

+ Lead efforts to enrich Product Development Lifecycle experience and gain end to end ownership on focus areas.

+ Recruit and retain a team of engineers to provide product development and engineering services to the global engineering needs

+ Manage and develop people: identify, attract and develop key engineering talent for the organization.

+ Ensure quality of delivery in accordance with the plan adhering to Eaton standard practices.

Qualifications

Requirement:

+ Bachelor’s / Master’s Degree in Mechanical/Production/Instrumentation/Electrical Engineering

+ 10+ years of progressive hands-on experience in product development & leadership. It is mandatory to have the working experience in product design and requisition support.

+ Strong problem solving and reasoning ability, with critical thinking and proven design skills. Should be able to technically lead the team.

+ Sound technical knowledge and experience in design & development of product lines such as electronics controls & Smart Products, switches and receptacles, power distribution, protection and control products and relevant product standards like UL, IEC & NEC.

+ Should have strong knowledge about drawings, dimensioning standards, tolerance standards & stack-up, engineering calculations, complete system / component sizing, modeling and simulation, strong Analytical skills - understanding mechanical loads & stresses, part fits, and establishing efficient, ergonomic methods of assembly, designing of mechanical parts which are manufactured. Good understanding of ECAD and MCAD, PLM & SAP PLM system, requirements management for documentation control and workflow.

+ Should have good knowledge on different product design tools environment like CAD- PRO E, Solid works or E-CAD, LT Spice, PS Spice, Model sim, Cadence, Jama, Jira etc as required for product design and development.

+ Good knowledge of regulatory and industry standard like ASME Y14.100, UL, IEC, NEMA, FAA, TP312, ICAO etc. Knowledge of Hazardous Area would be added advantage.

+ Hands on experience in working with cross-functions, interfacing with customers, translating requirements to design solutions. Ability to understand business needs, prioritize projects and execute to meet commitments.

+ Proven experience on Talent management (Hire, Develop, Retain), resource allocation and project management.

+ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a higher degree of aptitude, creativity, and self-direction is required. Ability to foster collaboration across global development teams

+ Strong knowledge of the Industrial products - power distribution & control products

+ Product design tools & environment like PLM Software.

+ Experience with ERP systems. SAP is preferred.

+ Strong technical experience in Product design tools - 2D / 3D CAD package (Solid Works, Creo, AutoCAD ) and manufacturing.

+ Good understanding of manufacturing processes (castings, sheet metal, machining etc) to proactively drive DfM in the design.
