Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs, the Assistant Dean organizes, plans, and manages the Accelerated BSN (BSNA) program, including course implementation, clinical placement planning and implementation, and staffing. The Assistant Dean also participates in the student admission process, recruitment, hiring and supervision of educators and clinical instructors as needed, as well as curriculum and examination development and assessment of student performance and program outcomes using best practices. 

Requirements:

•    Master of Science Degree in Nursing 

•    Doctorate Degree preferred

•    Current unencumbered New Jersey Registered Nursing license 

•    At least four years teaching experience in a baccalaureate nursing program

•    Administrative and supervisory experience preferred

•    Familiarity with issues and trends in professional nursing practice and nursing education

•    Ability to organize assigned work, analyze problems, and develop effective work methods

•    Program planning as well as curriculum and course development experience preferred

•    Ability to work cooperatively and effectively as a team member

•    Professional and effective communication skills

•    Effective interpersonal and conflict resolution skills

•    Professional appearance and attire

•    Punctual

•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills

•    Strong foundation and computer software

Major Responsibilities:

•    Participates in the BSNA admission process according to University and School of Nursing policy.

•    Participates in development, revision, implementation, and evaluation of the BSNA orientation program. 

•    Oversees student health and clinical requirement compliances.

•    Participates in development, revision, and outcomes evaluation of the Undergraduate Nursing Programs.

•    Participates in development and implementation of best practices for testing and evaluation of student performance in collaboration with course educators, simulation coordinator, clinical instructors, and the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Nursing Programs.

•    Works with clinical agencies, educators, and staff to develop and implement appropriate and meaningful clinical experiences for students in the BSNA program. 

•    Develops new clinical experiences to meet program and student learning outcomes. 

•    Coordinates the assignment of clinical instructors to clinical courses and clinical agencies as appropriate and in consultation with the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Nursing, the course educators and clinical education coordinator.

•    Assigns students to clinical experiences as appropriate in consultation with the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Nursing and the course educators.

•    Monitors clinical instructor performance in coordination with clinical education coordinator. 

Committees and Reports:

•    Participates in School of Nursing and University committees as assigned.

•    Provides reports relevant to the School of Nursing, its students, and its functions as required by the Associate Dean and the Dean of the School of Nursing.

Professional Currency:

•    Participates in continuing education required for continued registered nurse licensure in New Jersey.

•    Participates in continuing education experiences necessary for maintaining current in professional nursing practice and nursing education.
