POSITION PURPOSE

The Senior Corporate Counsel - Supply Chain, will be representing The Home Depot in many supply chain/logistics contract negotiations and regulatory matters, and advises clients on a broad array of distribution, transportation and logistics legal issues.  The person will also support the anti-bribery and FCPA compliance program and will assist with other international regulatory and corporate work. 


MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Accurately identifies and assesses risks and determines and effectuates appropriate course for specific business areas and others with department-wide consequences. Identifies, assesses, approves, and recommends changes to business partners
  • Handles complex legal matters within area of responsibility. Retains, monitors, and evaluates the performance of Outside Counsel relationships and budgeting within area.
  • Independently conducts and directs complex negotiations for a broad spectrum of matters for specific business areas with general supervisory review. Supervises and conducts appropriate legal research for all pending legal work.
  • Compiles, prepares, and presents budget recommendations for area of responsibility and manages budget for same.
  • Supervises Associate Corporate Counsel, Corporate Counsel, Paralegals, Legal Assistants, Administrative Assistants, and/or Clerks; including directing work, selection, termination, performance appraisal and coaching/professional development

NATURE AND SCOPE
  • Typically reports to Associate General Counsel - International, Supply Chain & Regulatory. 
  • Accountable for direct supervision of the work activities of others. Planning, monitoring and reviewing work of subordinates is required. This may include direct supervision of a shift or the coordination of multiple work groups. Makes recommendations concerning selection, termination, performance appraisal and professional development.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Education Required:
The completion of a Juris Doctor or equivalent and required certifications for practicing law.

Years of Relevant Work Experience:
6 years

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
  • Current in house or law firm experience with significant international trade regulatory, supply chain contract negotiation skills, FCPA compliance and supply chain regulatory experience.
  • 7-10 years experience

Physical Requirements:
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles. Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
