As the company's second line of defense, Corporate Risk — or Independent Risk Management — provides independent oversight of risk-taking activities. Independent Risk Management establishes and maintains Wells Fargo's risk management program and provides oversight, including challenges to and independent assessment of, the frontline's execution of its risk management responsibilities. We manage risk according to the Risk Management Framework  and ensure all employees understand their individual accountability for managing risk. Corporate Risk roles depend on a variety of skills, including: Data analysis and synthesis, root cause analysis, change management, process management & execution, risk governance, risk strategy, risk identification & assessment, risk prevention, controls & mitigation, risk monitoring, reporting & escalation, risk systems & technology.

Responsible for providing senior level strategic consulting services to client organizations using in-depth knowledge and expertise regarding Wells Fargo business strategy (enterprise-wide) and emerging trends in the Industry. Works with executives and senior managers across Wells Fargo to help define the business strategy and create/execute corresponding business plans and initiatives. Provides leadership in the identification of strategic business, investment and alliance opportunities; evaluation and approval process of identified opportunities; identification and implementation of technology requirements (systems, architecture and infrastructure) as well as coordination of technical resources; and communication of strategy and related business plans to management. May Direct internal as well as Industry strategic planning activities and represents Wells Fargo on Industry boards and committees. Provides guidance to less experienced team members.

Purpose - To support the restructure of the Corporate Risk Strategy team - specifically to shift skill sets towards classically trained strategy consultants. To upskill team on ability to think, communicate and influence stakeholders strategically using tools that will help navigate change in the organization.  The individual is expected to work somewhat autonomously to understand and solve complex, ambiguous problems faced by our stakeholders. 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Senior Strategy Consultant’s to lead initiatives for various Risk programs and CROs. Chief Risk Officer
  • Provide strategic consulting services to Corporate Risk Leadership team utilizing in-depth industry knowledge and expertise
  • Partner with stakeholders across Corporate Risk to define business strategy and create / execute corresponding business plans and initiatives.
  • Coordinate cross-Corporate Risk initiatives including organizational and technology components.  May also span into other businesses and functions outside of Corporate Risk.
  • Serve as a thought partner to stakeholders in Corporate Risk to help them identify, structure, and address strategic questions and challenges, particularly on complex, unstructured business problems.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of strategic planning experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Ability to work across multiple lines of business leading large scale initiatives
  • Management consulting experience at a top-tier consulting firm

Other Desired Qualifications
  • Previous strategy consulting firm background
  • Exposure to US banking regulatory requirements (CCAR, RRP, etc.).
  • Understanding of and experience developing effective enterprise risk programs and strategies in a large bank environment.
  • Ability to structure ambiguous problem statements, identify solutions and then drive the execution of those solutions.
  • Ability to perform effectively in an ever-evolving environment and successfully address multiple, high-priority matters.
  • Exceptional capability in partnering and collaborating with a breadth of stakeholders and constituents including line of business and functional senior leaders across a complex, matrixed environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to present complex ideas in a straightforward manner and also inspire large teams and effectively influence internal and external constituencies.
  • Ability to work across multiple lines of business leading large scale initiatives
  • Strategic planning experience in translating leadership vision into executable strategies and initiatives enterprise-wide

Salary Information

The salary range displayed below is based on a Full-time 40 hour a week schedule.

TX-Irving: Min: $95,600 Mid: $136,500 Max: $177,500
