We are seeking a Principal Software Engineer who is motivated to learn a wide range of software tools, ranging from embedded Flight Software, real-time operating systems, database development tools, and simulators for immediate support of a critical commercial space program. Candidates will participate in software requirements analysis, trade studies, design, implementation and integration, test planning from unit to system level, planning and performing software qualification tests and writing test reports as part of a team developing software for a constellation of spacecraft. In addition to developing software, candidates should be familiar with basic Systems Engineering practices as they apply to the completion of trade studies and the debugging of systems in a laboratory setting. The ideal candidate will have expertise in C/C++ programming, hands on experience with real-time operating systems (VxWorks) and be knowledgeable of embedded software integration and test activities on aerospace avionics systems. An understanding of waterfall, spiral and Agile software lifecycle processes and continuous integration using Jenkins is valuable. Familiarity with common software development tools and the ability to use them to perform software rapid prototyping and process automation is also desirable. Superior communication (reading, writing, speaking) fluency is necessary for this position. Primary duties and responsibilities: 1. Participate in software requirements, trade studies, design, implementation and test. 2. Make frequent contact with both internal and external customers concerning design, development and maintenance of software. 3. Work directly with integration and test and other production engineering disciplines to resolve complex spacecraft system problems 4. Develop embedded avionics software and various other software tools in support of National Security objectives Basic Qualifications: BS in Software/Electrical/Computer/Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or similar degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience is required for this position. Expertise in C++ programming US Citizenship is required for this position Preferred Qualifications: Aerospace avionics integration and test experience ted class. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
