**JOB SUMMARY**

This job represents the organization as the primary point of contact with pharmaceutical manufacturer(s) and acts as a liaison to internal departments as well as with the company’s Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM). The incumbent is responsible for negotiations with pharmaceutical manufacturers for rebate contracts and other innovative contracting opportunities, which increase revenue and reduce drug spend, analyzing and interpreting financial models, pricing terms and conditions, as well as developing recommendations on pharmaceutical product market potentials.

**ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES**

+ Negotiate with pharmaceutical manufacturers for pharmaceutical rebate contracts and other innovative contracting opportunities which increase Highmark revenue and reduce drug spend, analyzing and interpreting financial models, pricing terms and conditions, as well as developing recommendations on pharmaceutical product market potentials.

+ Represent the pharmacy function, as liaison between the pharmaceutical manufacturer industry and internal departments for key strategy discussions and decisions related to formulary and low cost product initiatives.Act as a senior escalation point of contact with pharmaceutical manufacturers and providing financial analysis and counsel in support of pull-through activities to increase formulary compliance and market share requirements.

+ Review pharmaceutical financial analysis models, developing and overseeing recommendations and engaging key internal personnel as needed to execute on contracting opportunities. Participate in commercial, AC, and Med D Formulary management strategy and decision processes, and providing financial recommendations based on financial impact models.

+ Provide oversight and guidance on strategies related to medical rebate opportunities to assist Highmark's strategic partner(s) in managing their overall medical drug spend.

**EDUCATION**

**Required**

+ Bachelor's Degree

**Substitutions**

+ Combined work experience with manufacturer contracting and/or pharmaceutical purchasing, negotiation and contract administration, exposure to data analytics

**Preferred**

+ Doctorate Degree in Pharmacy

+ Bachelor's Degree in Finance

+ Master's Degree in Business Administration/Management

**EXPERIENCE**

+ 3 - 5 years of experience in Contract Administration

+ 3 - 5 years of experience in Health Insurance Industry

+ 3 - 5 years of experience in Data Analytics

**Preferred**

+ 3 - 5 years of experience in Pharmacy Contracting
