ViacomCBS is looking for a Senior Media Solutions Engineer to work on an exciting new project for the Media Platforms Engineering team. Candidates for this position should be driven to deliver quality software suitable for the high-availability nature of television solutions, good communication skills, along with good organization and collaboration abilities. This position can be 100% remote.

  • Build cloud encoding and workflow solutions, including file, OTT VOD, live streaming, and QC workflows using serverless cloud solutions and web services
  • Candidate will be involved in the planning and design phases of new and evolving media pipelines and supply chain components, as an integral part of new Cloud based transcoding projects
  • Collaborate with partner engineering teams to correct issues, and develop new solutions to assist in operations and support team troubleshooting
  • Assist in new client onboarding capturing file specifications and building delivery workflows
  • Propensity for learning new technologies and finding solutions to complex issue
  • Collaborate directly with other technology and operations divisions, and engage in direct vendor relationships to engineer cloud-based transcoding or auto-qc workflow




  • Minimum 5 years of media engineering experience
  • Knowledge of leading streaming technologies
  • Strong understanding of content ingestion, encoding, ad insertion and delivery systems.
  • Strong understanding digital audio/video fundamentals, compression technologies, distribution formats, and associated technologies including AVC (H.264), HEVC, ProRes, MPEG-2, MXF, IMF and audio codecs like PCM, AAC, AC3, E-AC3
  • Comprehension of the frame rates, scan types, resolutions and color spaces that are used with different video standards for archive or distribution.
  • Knowledge of RESTful services and programming/Scripting skills, demonstrated ability to automate processes and workflows
  • Experience in Cloud Video Encoding and QC processes and workflow design
  • Must be flexible, self-starter, and adapt to working under deadlines, able to complete duties and responsibilities with minimal supervision


Additional Qualifications


  • Experience with OTT contribution technology and architecture, including transport protocols such as HLS, MPEG-DASH, CMAF
  • Experience developing live video workflows in the cloud
  • Knowledge Interra Baton (or similar) and QC processes
  • Familiarity with accelerated delivery solutions: Signiant, Aspera, AWS API
  • Thorough knowledge of AWS MediaConvert/Elemental, Telestream Vantage/CP2 and Hybrik Media Processing Platforms from Ingest to Distribution
  • Strong experience with AWS API / SDK
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related degree
