We have an opening for a Package Equipment Engineer within our Des Plaines, IL facility. 


Key responsibilities: 
• Generate requisitions for various types of package equipment such as compressors, amine units and hydrogen plants.
• Incorporate applicable code and customer requirements to produce a complete technical definition of the packaged equipment.
• Assume the primary liaison role with outside suppliers. 
• Technically evaluate bids and participate in the supplier selection process. 
• Review supplier designs against licensor requirements, code requirements, and customer requirements. 
• Manage all interfaces between package equipment and rest of the unit
• Visit shops for kickoff meetings, critical inspections, and provide feedback to improve future designs. 
• Coordinate with all members of the project team including quality assurance, piping, instrument, electrical, process, and structural designers, purchasing personnel, and project managers to meet project requirements.
• Manage the interface points between package equipment and the UOP scope of supply.
• Troubleshoot design issues and issue resolution. 
• Develop and maintain the necessary infrastructure to ensure time delivery of a quality product. 
• Understand the process and customer to know the right amount of specification to apply verses accepting the vendor’s standard.
• Provide sales support to review customer specifications and provide cost estimates for package equipment

You Must Have:   
• BS degree in Mechanical, Chemical or Civil/Structural Engineering
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in the process industry. 

We Value:
• Experience with specification and/or manufacture of package equipment.  
• Have a general understanding of electrical, instrumentation, controls, structural, paint, vessels and rotating equipment
• Experience with project scheduling, cost controls and supplier management
• Good working knowledge and use of Bluebeam, Microsoft Office (Word, EXCEL, Power Point), Microsoft Project.
• Disciplined approach to maintaining project files for team use.
• Multi-tasking abilities to maintain contributions on schedule for several projects simultaneously is key.
• Ability to communicate well with suppliers in both written and verbal communication especially in international 
• Ability to work well in a team environment and provide proper updating of Project managers, Project Engineers, and Procurement 
• Ability to mentor and help develop younger engineers is considered ideal.
• Experience with Fired Heaters is a plus
• Experience with Compressors is a plus
