This position works within the Probes Operations team to support the Probes platforms in the AT&T EPC Core Network. The person filling this position will be responsible for support of users of the Probe systems. This includes reacting to incoming trouble tickets, triaging user issues, reproducing issues, applying standard solutions to known issues, working with the user as needed to isolate and define the issue, and working with Advanced Technical Support, TP&E, Tech Arch, and the vendor(s) to find and test solutions for previously unknown issues.  The Support Engineer will also be responsible for developing documentation of new resolutions found and working with the rest of the Probe Ops team to keep our knowledge base updated.

In addition, the Support Engineer will provide day to day Operational support for virtual Probes platforms, including implementing new instances of vProbes Virtual Network Functions (VNFs), Configuring and operating VNFs and, in the near future Containerized Network Functions (CNFs), and working to decommission VNF/CNFs as they are no longer needed.  This work is accomplished in close coordination with ATS and TP&E, as well as with various Program and Project Managers as the needs of the business require.

Education: BS degree in Math, Science or Engineering, Computer Sciences or Operations preferred or equivalent related network experience.

The successful candidate for this position should have

  • 3+ years of experience with End to End troubleshooting the 3G/4G/5G Mobility Network or a similar technically advanced network.
  • 2+ years of experience supporting Users in a technically demanding field
  • 2+ years User (Sysadmin preferred) experience in a Linux environment.
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining focus on goals

Additional useful experience includes:

  • Experience with scripting (Shell scripts, Perl, Python, etc.)
  • Experience in a Cloud environment (AT&T AIC or Network Cloud, Azure, etc.)

Experience using the following tools is desired:

  • Wireshark
  • Remedy Based Ticketing System
  • Ansible
  • Terminal Emulator with multiple machine implementation


Required Qualifications -
  • 3-5 years experience
  • CISCO and CCNA Certifications
  • 6-Sigma White, Yellow
Desired Qualifications -
  • BS in technical disciplines, such as Engineering, Computer Sciences, and Operations
  • Knowledge of Network Planning, Engineering, Construction and Mobility architectures
  • Knowledge of OSI Layer 3
  • Project Management skills
  • Software testing skills
  • Technical writing skills
  • PM certifications
  • Knowledge of order management and customer install
