PRIMARY FUNCTION:

eMobility North America Region has an opening for a Senior Design Engineer. This role will support our Juarez, Mexico manufacturing facility. Incumbent will be responsible of the interface between Eaton engineering and manufacturing teams. Focused on Low Voltage Automotive Power Distribution and Circuit Protection systems & products this senior design engineer will establish and maintain a collaborative primarily focused on designing and deploying ECO processes and on bringing a strong technical knowledge to manufacturing decisions. Also, will foster effective communication within the Eaton Engineering community and with key stakeholders, customers, and vendors.

MAIN FUNCTIONS:

• Interprets and creates layouts and drawings of raw materials, parts, assemblies, bills-of-material, wiring diagrams, schematics, and specifications, as assigned by engineering manager under the guidance of marketing, manufacturing, and development engineers.

• Work with operations team to manufacture the parts as per drawings, provide clarifications, get feedback and implement in drawings.

• Work with suppliers to manufacture the parts as per drawings, provide clarifications, get feedback and address non-conformance issues.

• Providing design, test, and manufacturing process recommendations to enhance product performances and quality by considering specifications and meeting design objectives.

• Lead engineering activities for mechanical design and hardware development on low voltage automotive systems and products.

• Produces design concepts, layouts and documentation for the construction and testing of prototype models and evaluates designs for fits, tolerance stack, volume, etc., using CAD tools.

• Partners with manufacturing engineers, tool designers and label vendors on matters involving the design and manufacture of assigned products.

• This position will perform project engineering work from design to implementation;

• Communicates expectations, plans, and requirements and coordinates all work within the scope of assigned projects.

• Serves as a consultant, providing technical information and engineering recommendations that assists various projects / processes.

• Coaches, trains less experienced engineers.

• Contributes effectively towards team goals and influences the work group and works beyond routine nature of tasks utilizing specialized knowledge to support internal and external customers.

• They are often the Technical Leader for large projects or multiple small projects.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

+ Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution required.

+ Minimum five (5) years of engineering within a manufacturing , automotive or industrial environment.

+ US residing candidates requiring No immediate or future visa sponsorship .

Preferred Qualifications:

- 5+ years of experience in structural analysis, electro-mechanical enclosure design (sheet metal/plastic etc.), thermal plastic injection molding, printed circuit assembly, and project management.

• Minimum 5 years of experience on thermoplastic injection molding & components design. • Minimum 4years of experience on design Tool/Office Applications such as SolidWorks, MathCad, Microsoft Office, SAP, Visual Basic, Enovia. • Minimum 5 years of experience in product design, product manufacturing, engineering support, technical project leadership. • Proficient working knowledge of Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), expertise preferred. • Minimum 5 years of experience in designing and modeling parts manufactured by a number of the following processes: plastic injection molding, aluminum casting, metal stamping, extrusion and machining. • Experience designing and modeling Printed Circuit Boards & Assemblies, electronics, and wire harnesses. • Communicates effectively in English and across cultures. Proficient writing skills. • Self-motivates and comfortable operating independently. Able to work under remote management. • US residing candidates local to El Paso ,Texas geograhical area or currently residing within 50 miles to our Juarez Mexico Manufacturing Facility. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.
