Market Job Description



The Control Officer reports to responsible risk management leaders for control activities within Strategy, Digital, and Innovation (SDI). Control functions are accountable to SDI business leaders for ensuring the businesses consistently implements front line risk programs, including for regulatory and enterprise risk.

Specific responsibilities include:
•Identify, assess, and mitigate risks across all risk types across the SDI business, consistent with the Risk Management Framework and WF policies
•Work closely with business leaders to promote a strong risk culture to ensure effective communication and collaborative partnerships
•Design and implement front line controls across major business processes, consistent with policies
•Develop and implement mitigation strategies to address known gaps and deficiencies in an effective and timely manner
•Ensure each assigned SDI business strategic plan includes material risk and associated activities consistent with the Enterprise Risk framework and Statement of Risk Appetite
•Provide input to the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of the overall Wells Fargo Risk Management Framework
•Ensure SDI planned activities are consistent with the Enterprise Risk frameworks, policies, and programs and Risk Appetite framework; and to ensure they are well-calibrated and integrated within the line of business
•Escalate concerns and issues to Senior Leadership, Independent Risk Management, Management Committees, and the Board as appropriate
•Manage relationships and foster a team orientation with business leaders independent risk management, Legal, and Audit

The successful candidate will have ability to distill complex concepts, businesses, and processes across multiple teams into targeted solutions while communicating those concepts effectively and ensuring that all deliverables are met. This risk management expert will identify business problems and build compelling fact-based strategic recommendations. They will also have a demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong credible relationships with key stakeholder groups including the SDI Control Team Executive, SDI Business Unit Group Head and Process Owners, Independent Risk Management, Internal Audit, Legal, and Control Leaders in other lines of business.



•Serve as subject matter expert (SME) for products, services, risks, processes, and controls within Strategy, Digital, and Innovation (SDI) businesses
•Facilitate risk management activities within the front line and ensure compliance with enterprise requirements
•Serve as the primary SDI Control team liaison to business unit heads
•Serve as an advisor to guide business and risk mitigation strategies
•Create an aggregate view of risk across assigned businesses and products

Market Skills and Certifications

Required qualifications
7+ years of experience in risk management or 7+ years of financial services industry experience, of which 5+ years must include direct experience in risk management

•In-depth understanding of risk measurement needs (ex. Risk Appetite and KRI measures) for a new Front Line group, and the ability to create and own reporting solutions for these needs across SDI.
•Ability to develop holistic data-driven reporting solutions to address control deficiencies across multiple risk data categories (Issues Management, Risk Identification & Assessment, Risk Measurement, RCSA, BPM, ORE, NBI, and more).
•Experience with development of management reporting (ex. Executive-level PowerPoint presentations) and management reporting tools/capabilities (ex. Tableau dashboards, MicroStrategy, Python) including trend/concentration visualization, risk analytics, and all associated data governance activities.
•Ability to make informed decisions based on identified risks, and confidently raise issues to counsel SDI leadership with justifiable recommendations on new / emerging risks.
•Ability to take initiative and determine relative importance of priorities without needing to be asked.
•Strong leadership and project management skills for interaction with and driving alignment across stakeholders at all levels of the SDI organization.
