The Program Coordinator, Alumni Communication (level 10) creates content and coordinates delivery of alumni relations, fundraising, and stewardship messaging to Fuqua’s community. The Program Coordinator collaborates with the Development and Alumni Relations department and to her Fuqua and Duke University departments on overall strategy, initiatives, and events. The Program Coordinator reports to the Assistant Director, Alumni Communication.

 

Job Duties
·       Solicit, write, and edit content; create graphics; and produce HTML newsletters and e -mails for alumni relations activities and fundraising solicitations throughout the year.

·       Assist in crafting solicitations and donor and alumni communications that highlight interesting alumni, donors, and students to show the impact of philanthropy at Fuqua.

·       Coordinate Fuqua’s alumni web presence, creating content, suggesting story ideas, and engaging Fuqua staff to continuously enhance the site.

·       Coordinate the Fuqua Development and Alumni Relations social media presence, collaborating on the administration of social media campaigns developed by the department, suggesting appropriate platforms for particular messages and creating content that amplifies Fuqua’s development and alumni relations messaging through social media.

·       Oversee the gift and pledge acknowledgement process, producing and distributing digital thank you letters for over 6,000 Annual Fund donors annually.

·       Collaborate with Fuqua and Duke colleagues to create strong and consistent alumni relations, fundraising, and stewardship messages and develop online, print, and html materials as needed.

·       Stay abreast of fundraising priorities, school news, faculty research, events, and alumni activities to incorporate into communications to constituents.

·       Help coordinate mass communications to alumni and donors, with attention to frequency and pacing of messaging to Fuqua constituents both from Development and Alumni Relations and from partners across campus.

·       Report on the results of communication activities through such activities as tracking open- and click-through rates and general readership statistics for online and print communications.

·       Collaborate with the Fuqua’s marketing department, Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) staff, and Duke Alumni Engagement and Development.

Minimum Qualifications
Education

Work requires communications, analytical and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program. A Bachelor's degree strongly preferred. 

 

Experience
·       Work requires three years' experience in development and alumni relations, higher education, or Duke University preferred.

·       Demonstrated successful experience in marketing, communications, or public relations.

·       Three to five years’ successful project management experience, including meeting numerous deadlines and objectives and managing multiple concurrent projects with limited resources.

·       Experience and proficiency with social media platforms, web content management, and email distribution systems.

·       Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) and willingness and ability to master proprietary database tools. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and video editing a plus.

·        Excellent writing and editing skills. Ability to differentiate audiences and create targeted, audience-specific messaging using the appropriate vehicle.

·       Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills.

·       Strong work ethic in a fast-paced, results-oriented team environment.

·       Creativity, adaptability, diplomatic skills, and sense of humor.

·       Excellent interpersonal skills, so und judgment, and experience handling confidential information.
