Job Description

The Manager, Retail Delivery will oversee less than truckload transportation across all Harbor Freight Tools business segments. This person will be a functional expert in less than truckload transportation and be responsible for driving excellence to achieve cost and performance targets. The Manager, Retail Delivery is an analytical professional who passionately leads projects, enjoys quantitative problem solving, metrics, research, and seeing improvement from their actions. Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Establish carrier-direct relationships with national and regional LTL carriers as well as regional and local couriers. • Establish KPIs and monitor service level expectations, and ensure all carriers operate within compliance and leading performance management directly with the carriers when necessary. • Drive improved carrier experiences through improvements in on-time pickups and delivery, reduced damaged and lost freight, and expedited issue resolution through a close partnership. • Serve as the liaison and subject matter expert (SME) for LTL and courier modes of transportation. • Constantly review the evolving network to ensure that HFT freight is optimized in terms of cost and performance and assist the third-party transportation provider in carrier selection as we optimize the new and existing network. • Work directly with Finance business partners, allocations, and the third-party transportation provider to define and refine budgets. • Serve as the champion and liaison between the third-party transportation provider, and HFT to develop the technology platform providing visibility to shipments in transit and exception management. • Challenge existing practices to drive both service and cost efficiencies within the supply network. • Collaborate with key internal stakeholders, 3PL partners, and transportation partners to plan and manage the logistics operation. • Maintain high levels of quality and customer service and serve as the escalation for all concerns related to transportation, logistics, distribution, or customer issues. • Build a culture of continuous improvement with planned effort in core logistics metrics such service, cost, and key foundational systems such as quality, safety, security, and sustainability. • Build a strong culture that is focused on a total end to end approach to optimize performance for the company. • Willingness to challenge current processes to improve partnerships and services Scope • Supervises staff - Yes • Organizational Scope - Corporate • Decision Making - Assigned projects; Analyses and resolves problems • Travel - Up to 5% Requirements

Job Qualifications - Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • 5+ years of experience in LTL and first & final mile (courier) logistics.
  • 3+ years of experience leading carrier procurement strategies, establishing pricing, and service contracts.
  • Ability to lead development of both tactical and strategic plans to drive customer service levels, financial budgets, and cost savings initiatives.
  • Experience building a budget and/or P&L management.
  • Current knowledge of and experience with best-in-class logistics technology platforms, including TMS, YMS, APIs, and billing systems.
  • Define metrics and cadence for effective communication with carriers.
  • Strong communication & interpersonal skills, including the ability to work remotely effectively with a wide variety of people and functions.
  • Detail oriented, organized, reliable and resourceful.
