POSITION PURPOSE:

The Senior Analyst, Space Optimization will provide micro and macro space optimization analysis of varying scope across items, categories, and departments. The Senior Analyst Space Optimization will leverage advanced analytical applications and models to identify opportunities for a more optimal use of store space to drive profitability. This position will be responsible for understanding the variety of advanced technical and statistical data models leveraged within applications and be able to communicate the approach and recommendations generated by tools to senior business leaders. This role is held accountable for evaluating and identifying opportunities during store projects and business resets for THD. The role will partner with store planning and space planning to support and execute new concepts resulting from competitive and space productivity analyses.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • 50% Provide micro and macro space optimization analysis of varying scope across items, categories, and departments.
  • 20% Communicate the approach and recommendations generated by tools to senior business leaders.
  • 20% Evaluate and identify opportunities during store projects and business resets for THD
  • 10% Partner with store planning and space planning to support and execute new concepts resulting from competitive and space productivity analyses

Position reports to Sr Manager Space Optimization 
No direct reports

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Environment: Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Travel: Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Education Required: The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Years of Relevant Work Experience: 2 years

Physical Requirements: Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in writing complex SQL queries
  • Experience with data visualization using Tableau or similar tools
  • Experience with Python, R, or other scripting languages
  • Experience with developing dashboards, KPIs, and benchmarks

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:
  • High proficiency in financial/statistical modeling applications including forecasting and/or optimization highly preferred.
  • Experience in MS Excel, MS Access or other analytical tools required.
  • Experience with Hadoop, R, SAS or other relevant statistical modeling tools/languages.
  • Experience with a variety of statistical modeling and regression analysis techniques and their practical business applications.
