The Lead Configuration Specialist –H2 provides support and coordination for teams of experienced technical specialists working on Blue H2, Green H2, and Carbon Capture.  This requires development and implementation of effective business and technical strategies, cultivation of mutually beneficial customer relationships (internal and external), strong networking and communication skills and demonstrated organization and leadership abilities.  The Configuration Specialist works in close coordination with counterparts in other business areas, including licensing, catalysts, R&D, engineering, equipment and services to ensure that the product line objectives are met in terms of pricing, share of demand and capture of pull-through opportunities.

This position is responsible for simulation and optimization of the existing H2 technical portfolio which spans the traditional gas processing portfolio (PSA, Cryogenics, Membranes and Solvents) combined with H2 SMR, Thermal Oxidizers, OxyFuel, Ortloff and Ecofining. This position takes a lead role in developing optimized configurations and techno-economic analyses and project management for the generation of an integrated technical proposal amongst self and other Technical Sales Engineers amongst Hydrogen and adjacent technologies.
Lead the development of superior techno-economic solutions for our customers.
Execute projects efficiently by developing and applying IPS MOS (tools and work processes)
Develop the process and configuration models to enable rapid analysis and solution development.
Integrate with existing project economics tools to ensure standardized delivery of economic representations to the customer.
Support UOP’s win probability of H2 projects through high quality early engagement with the customer.Provide continuity for all the stakeholders as the project evolves over its lifecycle.
Work with Customer Sales, SBLs, OMs, and Technical Sales Leaders to develop complex solutions, master plans, technical information packages, technical proposals, presentations, and technical support for guarantee calculation and pricing sheets.
Participate in key customer meetings including ITB and proposal clarification meetings.Act as the primary technical contact to Customer Sales and the customer.
Support the project specific sales strategy for complex projects to shape our technical solution.Add value by synthesizing individual unit value propositions into an optimal complex solution.
Drive specific actions that arise from Miller Heiman Blue Sheet meetings to ensure the complex wide strategy is being implemented.
Support H2 PSSS and participate in unit specific PSSS meetings.
Participate in technical proposal coordination meetings.
Participate in engineering deliverables meetings.
Participate in yield estimate review meetings.
Support the complex strategy and messaging; ensure individual proposals are developed with a consistent strategy message.
Coordinate optimization of customer stated base-case and alternative case development when value-added solutions are identified.
Write the Executive Summary and complex-wide Value Proposition sections of complex proposals.
Leverage learnings of value propositions and gap analyses to quantify improvements needed for the portfolio through NPD projects.

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
    Experience in the field of Refining and Petrochemicals (inside or outside of UOP).
    Intermediate UniSim modeling skills or equivalent
    Economics & Finance skills
    Intermediate-to-advanced MS Excel skills
