Job Description

 

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The Part-time Driver, Mobile Go safely drives and operates the Mobile Go Center Unit. Responsible for security and maintenance of truck as well as equipment and supplies.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Responsible for the safety of Mobile Go Center (MGC) unit
  2. Drives the MGC Unit to scheduled events, remains with the unit throughout the event, and returns the unit to LSC-University Park
  3. Responsible for the up-keep and inventory of the MGC unit including maintenance of the unit and the truck
  4. Responsible for keeping unit supplies, promotional items, brochures, etc. in stock
  5. Responsible for regular maintenance and checks on all unit hardware including computers, satellite, wheel-chair lift, etc.
  6. Ensures the security of the unit, the truck, and all contents
  7. Projects a positive image of the college system by maintaining pleasant and professional demeanor with students, employees, and visitors
  8. Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to work a varied schedule, including evenings and weekends
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Ability to exercise self-restraint and maintain composure under pressure or adverse conditions, and ensure that others behave in a similar fashion
  • Ability to operate with limited supervision and maintain efficient, self-directed job functions necessary
  • Excellent decision-making skills and ability to think and act quickly and creatively

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

 

WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:  

  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment, and a piano
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office/theater environment with minimal exposure to safety hazards
  • Schedule will primarily consist of nights and weekends and is on an as-needed basis

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent and at least 2 years of related work experience
  • Must have valid Texas Class A CDL and meet driving record criteria established by Lone Star College

Salary

 

Hourly Pay Rate is $21.75
