Job Summary

The Technician Associate Manager is responsible for leading and managing a team of Technicians and is accountable for the planning and oversight of projects of varying complexity.  This individual leads all technicians who support Encompass/NatGen and is responsible for managing the relationships with that business unit. This individual also develops solutions to moderate to highly complex business problems and business unit issues, serving as a point of contact and escalation for needs from the organization.
 

Key Responsibilities

People Management – 

  • Leader position responsible for PPL-Product Management pricing execution work performed by a team or their direct reports
  • Assesses pricing technician resource needs including skills and training requirements with a proactive view of work in the pipeline as well as the flow of run the business work.
  • Supports and executes performance management and development plans for all of their direct reports with an emphasis on anticipating the need to build Product, Pricing and business expertise
  • Provides general training and development to technicians on the team; establishes comprehensive development plans and job profiles
  • Responsible for participating in recruiting processes to ensure that individuals with the appropriate qualifications and skills are hired
  • An ability to translate business objective into the value of work being performed

 

Project Management - 

  • Plans, implements, manages, sponsors and/or contributes on PPL-Product Management priorities using accepted project management standards
  • Forecasts short-term and long-term pricing and underwriting deliverables 
  • Formulates strategies to achieve plan objectives for special programs that require additional or new implementation plans
  • Participates and can be depended on to create cost benefit analysis
  • Communicates and presents project information as needed to inform and escalate to leadership
  • Ensures project controls are in place throughout the lifecycle of the project to ensure quality in a high-volume environment
  • Assists in determining where additional resources/ expertise may be necessary to successfully complete projects/ assignments
  • Ensures processes are followed and applied consistently throughout team/department
  • Adheres to and monitors internal and external compliance requirements/standards
  • Understands and articulates market specific implications of business strategies 
  • Assures proper execution of regulatory/ legislative practices for Product Management
  • Functions as a liaison between business unit and systems or other areas of responsibility as required based on the projects their direct reports or they are assigned to

 

Process Improvement/Innovation - 

  • Supports and/or leads the development/design of new plans, programs, processes, products of moderate to high complexity to support PPL-Product Management priorities
  • Establishes and evaluates procedures and processes regularly and determines/ recommends alternatives or improvements while taking into consideration development needs of the department
  • Develops communication strategies and materials to support new plans, programs, processes, products
  • Solicits and incorporates input from key stakeholders as necessary

 

Leadership/Right Environment - 

  • Actively shares expertise among peers and other disciplines
  • Manages relationships with supporting business unit to monitor and improve team’s support to stakeholders
  • Communicates accountabilities of team to leadership and supporting business unit
  • Actively builds strong relationships among teams and team members to ensure cooperation on project objectives
  • Provides feedback on project team member(s) that contributes to performance management 
  • Trains/coaches team members or peers
     

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Experience

  • Education: College degree preferred
  • Experience: 5+ years of related experience; insurance and/or pricing knowledge and experience in P&C industry is preferred
  • Advanced knowledge in the use of data sources and applications to conduct research
  • Strong data analysis and data review skills
  • Able to identify and resolve complex data issues
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Possesses advanced working knowledge of policies and procedures in management or other technical fields including funding, prioritization, change management, product governance
  • Proven experience managing a team of multiple employees
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including the ability to effectively collaborate with multi-disciplinary groups and all organizational levels
  • Good presentation skills
  • High level organizational and project management skills in order to handle multiple concurrent assignments in a timely manner
  • Strong decision-making skills
  • Works effectively in a virtual team environment

Compensation Data

Compensation range for this position is $75,900 to $138,300 per year, based on experience and qualifications.

The candidate(s) offered this position will be required to submit to a background investigation, which includes a drug screen.
