  1. Demonstrate safe work practices in accordance with the Johnson Controls Safety Program, OSHA and EPA.
  2. Completes and passes 6G GMAW P1-P1-2 and P8-316 weld test and/or any other code/customer/quality related requirements.
  3. Works from complex level sketches, prints, operation sheets, preliminary drawings, and written/verbal instructions to fabricate and assemble projects from start to finish to meet customer requirements.
  4. Prepares welding projects by analyzing work orders, complex prints, and completed assembly, calculating requirements, studying metals, and determining welding techniques.
  5. Completes advanced level welds by cleaning, preparing, cutting, burning, and welding pieces; selecting methods; and setting up and measuring assemblies.
  6. Positions pieces to be welded into jigs, holding fixtures, and guides using measuring instruments and hand tools.
  7. Uses hand welding and flame cutting equipment, such as arc welders, gas welders, plasma arc and gas torches to weld together metal components (flat, horizontal, or vertical plates and pipes).
  8. Sets up and operates all welding/cutting equipment.
  9. Verifies welding results by inspecting and hydro-testing welds insuring conformance to specifications.
  10. Assists in developing welding techniques, procedures, and application of welding equipment to problems involving fabrication of metals and metal alloys.
  11. Keeps welding equipment operational by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, and performing preventive maintenance.
  12. Gathers welding equipment and materials by studying specifications and component requirements.
  13. Complete acquaintance with and understanding of the general and detailed aspects of the job and their practical applications to problems and situations ordinarily encountered.
  14. No instructions needed on routine work, and general instructions given on new lines of work or special assignments
  15. May be a team leader without hire/fire responsibility
  16. Ability to work as a team player, including working with Machine Operators, Technicians, Material Handlers, Engineers, and other members of management to resolve issues and meet customer requirements, is required.
