This role is a Control Sr. Officer position within the Wells Fargo Technology Organization.

Control teams are responsible for partnering with the relevant business and technology groups to identify, assess, manage, report and mitigate current and emerging risk exposures associated with their activities and operations. Consults and provides guidance to business groups on the development, implementation, and monitoring of complex business-specific programs to identify, assess, and mitigate risk. Consults and supports interpretation of policy, guidelines, and governance programs as the front line liaison to Independent Risk Management leaders. Designs and executes control effectiveness assurance program for Front Line-owned controls. Leads implementation of initiatives with moderate to high risk. Interfaces with Independent Risk Management, Audit, Legal, external agencies, and regulatory bodies regarding risk management of business-specific risk programs. 

As a senior individual contributor and leader on the Risk Transformation & Technology Control Strategy team, the Control Sr. Officer oversees Technology Control Management engagement, action plan activity, artifact management, change management, executive reporting and escalation management associated with Risk Transformation requirements and commitments. 

Control Sr. Officer responsibilities include:

  • Demonstrating influence leadership, successful execution and robust sustainability across the full scope of Technology Control Management risk and control program and policy requirements. 
  • Consulting with Wells Fargo Technology risk program leaders to influence and guide strategy, execution and organizational adoption of the Risk & Control Programs in scope of Risk Transformation activities.
  • Leadership over program disciplines including the development, implementation, monitoring and enhancement of routines necessary to meet Risk Transformation execution and sustainability expectations. Examples include change management, artifact management, executive and ad-hoc reporting, action plan system management and sustainability tools and routines.
  • Risk Transformation action plan governance, monitoring, executive reporting and escalation support leveraging program routines.
  • Partnering with Risk Transformation program leadership and business group/enterprise function counterparts to reinforce consistency of execution, identify and resolve common/unique challenges & drive execution against deliverable and program success criteria.
  • Participating in change initiatives that drive strong awareness and adoption across Technology and Technology Control Management.
  • Leading Sr. Stakeholder calls to provide regular Risk Transformation status reporting, including the facilitation of deep dive reviews with Executive and Sr. Leadership on critical risk topics.
  • Development and implementation of enabling technologies that enhance reporting capabilities, assist in issue identification and inform business decisions.
  • Leveraging risk management expertise to drive target state execution, identify and define cross-organizational interdependencies and challenge/inform implementation methods.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in risk management or 10+ years of financial services industry experience, of which 7+ years must include direct experience in risk management

Desired Qualifications

  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information Systems Auditor, (CISA) Certification in Control Self-Assessment (CCSA), Certified Information Systems Security Professional, (CISSP) or other risk management discipline certification
  • Ability to turn preliminary or ambiguous information, ideas, or problems into well-defined plans and solutions
  • Ability to communicate effectively, in both written and verbal formats, with senior executive-level leaders
  • Virtual leadership experience with ability to effectively drive results, provide feedback/direction, and manage and build relationships with leaders and team members in a geographically dispersed team environment
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to generate, review, edit, and distribute executive level reports
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience working with internal and external auditors and examiners
  • Experience reviewing testing strategies and methodologies; evaluating the adequacy and effectiveness of policies, procedures, processes, initiatives, products and internal controls; and identifying issues resulting from internal and/or external compliance examinations
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Other Desired Qualifications
  • 10+ years of diverse risk management and/or regulatory compliance experience
  • 7+ years of managing complex change initiatives or broadly impacting operational programs, preferably related to risk and control management
  • Strong presentation skills, including expert-level skills in creating PowerPoint decks

Job Expectations

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
