LinQuest is seeking a Senior Operations Research Engineer to work with our team at Wright Patterson AFB in Fairborn, OH.

You will support the Air Force Research Labs Aerospace Systems Directorate (AFRL/RQ) in assessing the operational effectiveness of developmental technologies applied to future aerospace vehicles for the Air Force. You will use advanced analytical capabilities and aerospace assessment and simulation facilities along with government off-the-shelf tools to conduct comprehensive modeling, simulation and analysis of new advanced technologies as applied to concept air vehicles.

Project’s entail working with an interdisciplinary research team contributing to the research, planning, design, data collection, analysis, and reporting on concept, prototype or modifications to existing air vehicles as well as capability and mobility assessments of the current and future fleet through studies and analyses. Many of the overall goals of the projects worked within this group are to improve operational effectiveness and energy performance through science and technology investments. As such, many of the concepts studied are very complex and require participants to be detail oriented and have an operational/scientific/engineering background.


  • Collaborate with government customers to identify, define and document project requirements and recommend appropriate modeling approaches with minimized risk
  • Support the Project Lead with study plan development and execution
  • Consult with external subject matter experts and assist project team members in study data collection, database development, run execution and analysis
  • Develop and present study findings to both internal and external senior government leadership
  • Support and participate in team meetings with company and customer personnel
Required Experience:

  • At least 10 years’ experience in Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related technical area
  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, other related discipline
  • Must have an active Secret clearance to be considered for the position
  • Knowledge, understanding of, and ability to apply Operations Research principles with at least 10 years’ analytical experience
  • Experience with or motivation to learn engagement-level through campaign-level MS&A tools (e.g., Thunder, STORM, AFSIM, AMP, ARM)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a small-medium sized team (5-10 person) environment where communication and flexibility are key
Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Operational or analytical experience within DoD or as a defense contractor
  • 10+ years’ experience with US Military Tactics, Techniques and Procedures
  • Experience with aircraft dynamics and military mission planning
  • MS Office & VBA, JMPS, Tableau, R, Python, Matlab or other scripting and programming experience
