The Department of Neurology provides the neurological expertise to support the School's three-part mission of teaching, research, and patient care. The Department has more than 45 faculty with broad subspecialty representation in epilepsy, sleep disorders, movement disorders, neuromuscular diseases, cerebrovascular diseases, pediatric neurological disorders, behavioral neurology, and dementia. UNC has a robust clinical research unit, basic neuroscience and imaging research facilities and the program includes an ACGME accredited epilepsy fellowship with 2 fellows per year. The Epilepsy Division Chief is expected to possess a strong background in patient care, teaching, research and can assume administrative roles for the Epilepsy program in the Department of Neurology. They will also oversee and further develop the clinical epilepsy program of the EMU , Epilepsy Clinic and Epilepsy Surgery Program.  The successful candidate will join an established epilepsy team of 4 adult epilepsy and clinical neurophysiology faculty, 4 pediatric epilepsy faculty, neurosurgery, neuroradiology, neuropsychology, and psychiatry faculty as well as dedicated APPs and social work.  UNC Epilepsy program is an NAEC -accredited Level 4 epilepsy center with a strong history in providing cutting edge pharmacological, device and surgical therapies in epilepsy.   Income Package:  A negotiable income package is offered and is based upon Academic rank and level of Academic experience. Must also possess significant experience in pharmacological, surgical and device therapies of epilepsy and be able to obtain an unrestricted North Carolina state medical board license.
