Job Summary:

The RMD Automation Systems Engineering team is seeking an enthusiastic, innovative team member to develop, manage and sustain automation initiatives in Massachusetts. The role will focus on automation projects in support of the complete lifecycle of innovation and advanced manufacturing solutions. This includes automated control systems design, specification, documentation, programming, simulation and testing, start-up assistance and sustainment.

The selected candidate will report to the Automation and Systems Integration section manager and will work directly with members of the Automation and Systems Integration team and Data Integration & Visualization team in the development and sustainment of custom automation equipment, advanced robotics, stand-alone factory enablers and IOT platforms. The developed solutions will drive manufacturing efficiency through execution of the department___s continuous improvement strategy including OEE (Operational Equipment Effectiveness), operational cycle time reduction, and cost reduction initiatives (CRIs). The automation engineer will play a key role in strategic planning and establishing the department___s roadmap for Smart Factory/Industry 4.0 technologies.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:
  • Development of Automated Solutions for Manufacturing
  • Sustainment of Automated Solutions and Manufacturing Enablers
  • Integration of Automated Solutions with IIOT platforms
  • Support of RMD___s Digital Transformation and I4.0 vision and strategy
This position can be a Systems Engineer II (P2) or a Senior Systems Engineer (P3) based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the position

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Bachelor___s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) preferably in Electrical & Controls, Mechanical, Computer Programming or equivalent discipline
  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing or design environment related to manufacturing, automation and/or controls for a Systems Engineer II (P2)
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing or design environment related to manufacturing, automation and/or controls for a Senior Systems Engineer (P3)
  • Experience programming physical automation devices (ex. robots, controllers, vision systems)
  • Experience reading and interpreting mechanical and electrical technical documentation
  • Experience troubleshooting complex problems (software, controls, or mechanical)
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Value:
  • MS in engineering or computer sciences (for example, systems engineering, electrical, mechanical or manufacturing engineering)
  • Familiarity with automation software (Rockwell Studio5000, FTView, etc.)
  • Experience with machine vision systems (Fanuc iRVision, Cognex)
  • Practical knowledge in the construction of automation and controls systems (ex. mechanical assembly, control panels, wiring, pneumatics, etc)
  • Experience designing, programming, and troubleshooting custom automation equipment
  • Experience with robot and control system device specification
  • Experience with mechanical design (Creo/Solidworks)
  • Experience with controls design (AutoCAD electrical)
  • Familiarity with NFPA79, NFPA70 (NEC), UL508, RIA standards
