This Clinical Nurse Specialist will be responsible for:
  • Working as a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) role, a clinical expert who works as a mentor to support and educate staff at the bedside with a multitude of clinical needs from the novice to the expert.
  • Actively participating in patient care by evaluating current practice, facilitating development of policies, procedures and guidelines for patient care management, and serving as a subject matter expert in all aspects of nursing care, including wound prevention and management.
  • Integrating knowledge, research findings, and experience to support the incorporation of evidence-based practice into excellent bedside nursing care.
  • Consulting and collaborating across all disciplines. 
  • Providing leadership in practices, on committees, in quality improvement initiatives, and in research.
  • Working primarily four 10-hour shifts Monday – Friday with occasional off shifts for educational needs and to provide support during periods of increased unit activity.

To qualify, you must have:
  • Master’s degree in Nursing required
  • Current Massachusetts RN licensure required
  • Current CNS certification granted by Board recognized certifying organization
  • 5 years pediatric critical care nursing experience
  • Previous CNS experience and a background in clinical research preferred. 
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills are required.
Exciting opportunity in the Critical Care Program at Boston Children’s Hospital for a Clinical Nurse Specialist in our Medical Surgical Intensive Care Unit. The Medical Surgical Intensive Care Unit is a 30 bed unit  providing critical care services to medical, general surgery, transplantation, neurosurgery, craniofacial reconstruction, orthopedics, otolaryngology, neurology, renal, esophageal atresia, oncology, bone marrow transplantation and trauma patients ranging in age from newborn to adulthood.

Please note: During a public health emergency, individuals in this role may be expected to take on additional duties to respond to organizational needs.
