As a Solutions Architect, you excel at leading and facilitating the design, development, integration and deployment of various technologies in support of Spectrum Enterprise efforts. Using a hands-on approach and an innovative mindset, you define the application and architecture to ensure solutions are built with a consistent framework. You drive projects by leading the creation of design processes and documents that ensure consistency in development across the organization. You mitigate risks by performing product evaluations and proofs of concepts and ROI or TCO analyses. You perform analysis and simulations to perform systems and applications performance characterization and trade-off studies.

You serve as a technical and business-savvy resource to software engineering and architecture teams and align them with a standard set of technologies and frameworks. You implement and improve core software infrastructure and design patterns by participating in software development lifecycles, technical operations and technology innovation. You excel at sharing highly complex information to gain acceptance of new technology and business solutions and anticipate and prevent issues and roadblocks. You maintain relevant knowledge of new capabilities in the marketplace and encourage others to continuously learn and apply modern technical or process approaches while setting a high standard for the delivery of solutions. You flourish in an office environment collaborating with teams across Spectrum Enterprise. You report to the Director of Applications Architect & Data Engineering for goals, guidance and assistance.

What you will do:
  • Encourage company-wide success through active and consistent support of all efforts to simplify and enhance the client experience.
  • Improve client satisfaction by collaborating with developers, testers and deployment teams to create comprehensive software deployment plans.
  • Guide the installation of server software products by writing and updating automated scripts.
  • Ensure deployment success through the configuration of the necessary hardware and virtual machines and the deployment of code into the cloud environments.
  • Update infrastructure and operating system (OS) for applications by working with developers and hardware teams.
  • Maximize the department by performing lab installations and upgrades of server software products.
  • Install and improve third-party software through collaboration with developers and infrastructure teams.
  • Mitigate risks by monitoring system performance, reliability and daily data processing.
  • Provide recommendations and updates through participation in project-related stand-up meetings.
  • Review and provide feedback for all external facing user documentation, including on-line help, to ensure all content is in line with company standards.
  • Enhance the team performance by providing documentation support as needed.
Required keys for success:
  • Three years of experience in dynamic scripting languages.
  • Three years of experience deploying software.
  • Three years of experience with Linux or other Unix systems.
  • Extensive experience packaging and delivering software to a production environment.
  • Expert in automating software deployments using tools such as Puppet, Chef, Python and Ansible.
  • Familiar with inputs, outputs and processing flows with the ability to clearly communicate that knowledge.
  • Experience with software source control tools, like Perforce and GitHub.
  • Proficient software development skills in Linux shell scripting environments, like Bash.
  • Knowledge of AWS and Containers.
  • Thorough understanding of the Agile software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Track record of writing clear technical documentation for use by developers and testers.
  • History of identifying and resolving complex issues as part of a team.
  • Experience working under limited direction while handling multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to facilitate team consensus while interacting with leadership and implementation teams.
  • Effective written and spoken English communications skills with all levels of an organization.
How you will stand out from the crowd:
  • Three or more years of experience with domain-driven design techniques.
  • Five or more years of experience designing and implementing REST-based services and event-driven architectures.
  • Six years of experience in enterprise, application or information architecture.
  • Intermediate experience with date warehouse, data lakes and ETL techniques.
  • Experience designing and implementing full life cycle continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) pipelines.
  • Development and delivery experience with multiple programming languages, including Java, JavaScript, Net, Kafka, Neo4J or Python.
  • History of facilitating software design and design thinking sessions.
  • Applied knowledge and experience working in agile, scrum, and DevSecOps teams.
  • Knowledge of modern software delivery methods like test-driven development (TDD) and behavior-driven development (BDD).
  • Self-starter and quick learner with the ability to innovate and communicate proactively.
  • Strong interest in anticipating challenges and creating alternative courses of action.
  • Track record of working with a team and others around an organization on mutually beneficial solutions while challenging any complacency or lack of ownership.
Your education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience (required).
