You will be a part of the Hematology R and D team in Miami and report to the Senior Hardware Manager. In this role you will be responsible for designing new product electromechanical systems for hematology instruments. If you have a consistent track record taking sophisticated designs from concept to release to manufacturing, thrive in a fast-paced multifunctional role, and want to work with exciting technologies and build an elite R and D organization—read on!

In this role, you will have the following opportunities, but are not limited to:

  • Lead mechanical effort to design the next generation hematology instruments using innovative technologies.
  • Ensure robust/reliable product design that consistently meets all FDA/ISO/EN and other related standards.
  • Spearhead team efforts to build sophisticated products using a strong systems attitude including hardware, software, fluidics, reagents, biologics, leading closure of all technical gaps throughout conceptualization and development lifecycle.
  • Lead both internal and external partners and projects ensuring timelines and requirements are met.
  • Create and present project technical reports to peers and management.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Bachelor degree in mechanical engineering, MS preferred and 9+ years of relevant industry product development experience preferably in medical device or life science.
  • Understands architecture, system interactions and interfaces of a sophisticated system (reagents, hardware, and software) to drive effective mechanical design implementation, using superior problem solving and conceptualization.
  • Guides and mentors associates to achieve associate growth and business objectives, while holding them accountable to achievements.
  • Direct participation in technical design reviews and FMEAs to identify critical design factors and risks that impact product performance
  • Strong technical writing stills including procedure creation, and requirements and specifications development, both for internal designs and external contractors.
  • Proven track record to drive simultaneous projects through the design cycle to completion.

It would be a plus if you also possess:

  • Medical device design background with technologies such as DC motors, fluidics, and imaging.
  • Proven track record to troubleshoot, develop, and improve mechanical and electromechanical systems using analytical and statistical methods.
