The group includes Home Lending; Auto; Cards, Retail and Merchant Services; Personal Lending; Consumer Lending Control; and Consumer Lending Shared Services.

The Consumer Lending team partners with other businesses across Wells Fargo to create and deliver transformational experiences that help customers gain access to credit. The vision for the Consumer Lending business is to leverage technology and data to make it simple for customers to easily access credit when and where they need it. Consumer Lending serves customers across the country through our distribution network of more than 5,300 retail banking branches and Home Lending offices, as well as online and digital channels.

Home Lending Control Team provides guidance to Home Lending businesses to support their commitment to comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and internal operational policies and procedures. Through joint accountability with Home Lending process/business leaders for control functions, Controls Management enables the development and maintenance of a strong control environment that leads to early identification and sustainable mitigation of operational risk.

This role serves as the key partner to one of the following Home Lending business units: Strategy & Execution, Diverse Segments, or Marketing Control. This role also has primary responsibility for providing an aggregate view of program results and for monitoring risk across Home Lending, as well as driving related corrective actions to address issues, when needed.

• Lead risk/control program oversight for key policies and risk programs such as Issues Management, Risk and Control Self-Assessment Program and Redress/Remediation.  
• Leads and influences partnerships with the business process owner by consulting and providing expertise and strategic direction in the control design to effectively mitigate risks, including design of effective means of measurement. 
• Contributes to the development and enhancement of the business control environment through execution of the Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) program.
• Engages in the development and implementation of new controls, action plans, and root cause analysis. 
• Supports the Business with implementation of Control programs by providing consultative guidance. 
• Supports a strong risk management culture through the implementation of key risk management programs into the standard operating framework of the business.
•  Partner and continue to build relationships with the Home Lending Business, Business Excellence and 2nd and 3rd lines of defense to foster clear and proactive communication.



Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in risk management or 7+ years of financial services industry experience, of which 5+ years must include direct experience in risk management

  • Home Lending experience.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to interact and lead discussions comfortably with senior levels of management and regulators. 
  • Knowledge and understanding of financial services: regulations, compliance, policies, process, and procedures. 
  • Ability to consult, build, and maintain solid working relationships in and outside of immediate department.
  • Ability to manage initiatives involving process improvements.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Issue Management, Financial Controls and Risk.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate complex material to a diverse audience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of operational risk management in the financial services industry.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, in both written and verbal formats, with senior executive-level leaders.
  • Ability to influence, partner, and negotiate with senior business leaders to gain commitment to accomplish business goals
  • Ability to prepare management level presentations.
  • Strong risk management leadership skills.
  • Ability to lead projects/initiatives with high risk, complexity and meet aggressive time frames.
  • A BS/BA degree or higher.
  • Proven relationship-building skills to drive alignment across stakeholder groups to develop and deliver repeatable end to end risk management solutions and controls aligned with business/customer processes.
  • Strong understanding of risk framework, corporate/business policies, and programs to translate into plans for the business, function and/or risk type. 
  • Ethical integrity and demonstrated ability to assess and determine when to raise concerns and escalate. 
  • Ability to lead credible challenge to the business and adapt quickly through research and analysis.
  • Experience with Risk and Control Assessments (RCSA), and/or with managing changes to products/processes.
  • Hands on style; proven ability to execute and achieve targeted results and develop and manage associated goals and plans.
