This position will lead efforts to direct the resolution of the company's portfolio of pre-litigation casualty claims through close partnership with internal business partners, the Legal Department, third party administrators and insurers

  • 20% Claims Management - Ensure external partners (e.g., third party administrators) follow established company guidelines for managing claims
  • 20% Development - Develop a portfolio strategy to manage claims
  • 20% Leadership - Lead a team of associates who supervise claims
  • 10% Partnership - Partner with Legal and Risk Management to study claim trends
  • 5% Collaboration - Collaborate with teams who support captive insurance programs
  • 5% Compliance - Ensure compliance with required regulatory filings
  • 5% Analytics - Understand actuarial trending and analysis
  • 5% Financials - Follow appropriate financial controls
  • 5% Metrics - Set and meet metric targets for effective claim handling
  • 5% Training - Develop training to support effective claims management

  • This position typically reports to a Vice President & Deputy General Counsel
  • Accountable for direct supervision of the work activities of others. Planning, monitoring and reviewing work of subordinates is required. Makes recommendations concerning selection, termination, performance appraisal and professional development.


  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

  • Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time.


  • Must be eighteen years of age or older.
  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Education Required:
  • The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job

Years of Relevant Work Experience: 5 years

Physical Requirements:
  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Additional Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of previous leadership experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • AIC, ARM, or CPCU designation
  • CCP or ACP designation
  • 8-10 yrs experience handling casualty claims
