An excellent career opportunity is currently available for a HSE Engineer II in the Honeywell Process Solutions (HPS) ISC (Integrated Supply Chain) business unit located in North Vancouver, BC.  In this exciting opportunity in a dynamic environment, you will utilize your significant experience in HSE to significantly impact and support the HPS leadership team. 

Duties & Responsibilities:

Health, Safety & Environmental Engineer II is responsible for supporting management and employees at different organizational levels including factory, engineering, etc. to reduce incidents, evaluate the workplace hazards and recommend control measures to reduce the risks, deploy Health, Safety and Environmental management systems, maintain regulatory compliance, implement HSE procedures and processes and assist with the improvement of the site HSE culture.

  • Responsible for preparing and updating the site Health, Safety and Environmental management procedures and processes. In addition, the HSE Engineer will review and communicate HSE procedures/requirements (both Honeywell and regulatory requirements) to employees and managers at all levels while considering diversity and multicultural nature of the company.
  • Responsible for monitoring, documenting and reporting HSE metrics, corrective actions, incidents, regulatory inspections, injury/illness reduction, audit results, etc.
  • Supporting Management of Change (MOC), HSE review of capital projects, and participation in hazard assessments.
  • Provide technical support to the Leadership Team and plant personnel in the day-to-day operations.
  • Supports site on-going COVID-19 control management and processes.
  • Educates employees on HS&E issues and/or oversees the education/communication efforts.
  • Conduct evergreen self HSE assessment (Maturity Planning) activities as per Corporate and division (PMT) requirements.
  • Accountable for supporting and completing departmental goals.
  • Develop training matrices and programs, deliver presentations and training to site personnel and managers.
  • Lead /participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis as necessary for any environmental, safety, or other incident(s) and ensure that all required reports and corrective actions are implemented in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Implement and maintain ISO14001, OHSAS18001 and other standard systems.
  • Establish and maintain HSE documentation and record keeping
  • Utilize six-sigma, Lean tools and behavior-based safety strategies to guide injury prevention efforts
  • Ensure compliance with local and Corporate and PMT Health Safety, Environmental regulations and requirements.
  • Actively participate in daily meetings, prepare and present HSE reports and communicate changes in a timely manner. Provide inputs for integrating HSE into corporate management systems.
  • Act as a liaison between the site and global HPS ISC HSE organization by attending periodic global meetings, providing reports and presenting the site at global HSE meetings.  
  • Participate in HSE aspects associated with site continuous improvement activities.

YOU MUST HAVE:

  • Post Secondary Education in Health, Safety, Environmental or Engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience in a full time HSE role in an industrial setting.

  • Lean/Six Sigma (Honeywell Accelerator) Greenbelt certified or willing to become certified in first 12 months.
  • Certified Canadian Registered Safety Professional or any other comparable designations.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of safety legislation and management systems.
  • Team oriented and effective public speaking skills.
  • Demonstrable personal attributes to effectively communicate and influence all levels of employees and leadership.
  • Knowledge of Dangerous Goods acts (GHS), WHMIS, First Aid practices, environmental and industrial hygiene practices.
  • Experience participating in audits and implementing HSE management systems.
  • Solid oral & written Communication skills (English)
  • Solid IT / MS Office skills
  • Good Presentation skills
  • Create effective work environment to meet HSE requirements and foster teamwork to accomplish performance objectives.
  • Use effective coaching techniques to develop a culture of employee engagement.
  • Drives a continuous improvement culture by instilling Plan, Do, Check, Act methodology.

  • Responsible to ensure HSE Kaizen process is supported.
  • Leads a visually managed work environment.
