CBRE is looking for Data Center Network- IT Program Sr. Project Manager for a large Technology Client in the Chicago area.

This role is based in Chicago and the Data Center Network- IT Program Sr. Project Manager will need to be in and around Chicago on a regular basis. This is not a remote role.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Data Center Network- IT Program Sr. Project Manager will support program-wide initiatives lead by program subject matter experts in the area of physical network infrastructure, and

provide program level support for all disciplines related to network and telecom

requirements. You will review technical designs from multiple stakeholders to consider

implementing within our Data Center Fleet. You will be responsible for identifying risks

and gaps that exist within the existing network infrastructure designs. You will be

responsible for effectively communicating to all program stakeholders, along with

network area tech leads. You will work with site level program managers to develop

project plans, provide status on individual projects, and develop reports to both

stakeholders and senior management for communication of status, risks and decisions

needed to continue driving active programs and projects. These tasks will include, but

are not limited to:

  • Drive routine project meetings (kickoffs, weekly program, status review), manage project resources, and manage multiple concurrent projects to completion per chartered target dates, take meeting minutes and distribute
  • Leads cross-functional project teams composed of R&D, Engineers, Operations, Quality and Safety.
  • Run multiple projects from inception through completion
  • Interface with stakeholders from different organizations within Client's organization to develop scope, technical requirements and execution plans for new projects (taking an ambiguous requirement and developing an executable plan)
  • Set and manage expectations with internal and external teams to deliver the intended project scope, on time and on budget per project goals
  • Collect, analyze, and manage data from individual sites to generate reports to stakeholders and management teams
  • Assist with the enhancement of documentation related to process, MOPs, schedule templates, reports, and communication plans
  • Assist with cost analysis for programs that require value engineering
  • Supports Business Reviews and any preliminary or interim reviews related to the project through the reporting Technical Program Manager.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides formal supervision to individual employees within single functional or operational area.

Approves subordinate's recommendations for staff recruitment, selection, promotion, advancement, corrective action and termination. Effectively recommends same for direct reports to next level management for review and approval. Plans and monitors appropriate staffing levels and utilization of labor, including overtime. Prepares and delivers performance appraisal for staff. Mentors and coaches team members to further develop competencies. Leads by example and models behaviors that are consistent with the company's values. Manages 3rd party project delivery resources/team (typically larger more experienced team). Responsible for identifying training needs, tracking performance, coaching, and motivating team members.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (BA/BS/BEng/BArch) from College or University in a technical area of study.

Minimum six years of related experience and/or training. Prior experience in a supervisory

position (direct report responsibilities) required if specific duties include direct report

responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Telecommunications

Management, Network Engineering, or equivalent / similar practical experience

and education

Certified RCDD, PMP, or similar industry certifications.

Experience And Competencies:

  • Strong Program Management Capabilities
  • Experience with large scale retrofits in existing operational facilities.
  • Strong Knowledge Telecommunication Infrastructure
  • Data Center and or POP/COLO construction experience
  • Familiar with Data Center Infrastructure
    • Generator Plant, UPS, Power Distribution, AC & DC Power, Grounding
    • Common Inside/Outside Plant
    • Fiber Standards, Conveyance
    • Mechanical Systems
    • Knowledge of power calculations

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Strong knowledge of network engineering principles and technologies

Basic Knowledge of Physical Security Systems

Basic Knowledge of Fire Alarm and Controls Systems

Basic Knowledge of RF, WiFi, and Cellular DAS

Experience with an NPD phase-gate process

Demonstrated Leadership skills.

Excellent communication skills.

CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES

PMP (US and/or Canada) and LEED AP preferred.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret the most complex business documents. Ability to

respond effectively to the most sensitive issues. Ability to write reports, manuals, speeches and

articles using distinctive style. Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on complex

topics to employees, clients, top management and/or public groups. Ability to motivate and

negotiate effectively with key employees, top management, and client groups to take desired

action.

FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE

Requires in-depth knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate complex

figures. Ability to forecast and prepare budgets. Conducts financial/business analysis including

the preparation of reports.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve advanced problems and deal with a variety of options in complex situations.

Requires expert level analytical and quantitative skills with proven experience in developing

strategic solutions for a growing matrix-based multi-industry sales environment. Draws upon the

analysis of others and makes recommendations that have a direct impact on the company.

OTHER SKILLS and/or ABILITIES

Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to read and understand architectural

drawings. Knowledge in MS Project, leases, contracts, and construction practices.
