Overview

DWS's Diversity, Equity & Inclusion mission is to have a culture that is reflective of the clients we serve and communities in which we operate. As the Head of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI), you will work across DWS to drive change needed to realize our mission. This newly created role is part of DWS' continued investment in growing and broadening DEI. With the launch of Employee Inclusion Networks (EINs) in 2020 and a U.S. based Employee Inclusion Engagement Council, DEI is aligned to our focus on ESG and core to DWS's enterprise strategy. Reporting to the CEO of the Americas and secondary reporting to the Head of Human Resources of the Americas, the Head of DEI will be accountable for shaping the DWS DEI strategy in conjunction with DWS Leadership, and for coordinating collaborative execution across multiple stakeholder groups with close partnerships with Employee Inclusion Networks, Internal Communications, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Corporate Strategy, and the Global HR team.

Your Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute DWS enterprise-wide DEI strategy in collaboration with HR, CEO Americas, Communications & Marketing, Americas Leadership Team, and Employee Inclusion and Engagement Council and translate this into initiatives, programs, and measurable objectives. Primary focus on U.S. with opportunity to grow and support global efforts
  • Influence, challenge, and educate leadership and other key stakeholders within DWS on DEI initiatives and strategy bringing fresh and relevant perspectives and ideas to keep leadership well informed on latest thinking, best practices, and developments in DEI
  • Establish clear goals and design the metrics and processes that will help us measure progress and accountability to drive meaningful impact in building a culture of inclusion
  • Seek opportunities to align and embed DWS DEI principles in product offerings, client relationships, and marketing efforts as part of our broader corporate ESG strategy
  • Integrate expertise into existing programs and practices to enhance DEI engagement, advocacy and outcomes linked to talent acquisition and retention, people development, communications, marketing, and business strategy
  • Partner and support the employee led DEI initiatives including Employee Inclusion Networks (EINs), Advancing Diverse Talent, Diversity Scorecard, and Recruiting initiatives


Your Skills and Experience:
  • Extensive experience in business leadership and/or HR experience; Investment Management industry or Financial Services experience is a plus; extensive experience in DEI preferred
  • Roll-up-your sleeves attitude to provide guidance to EINS groups on their day-to-day communications in partnership with Communications & Marketing
  • People-focused. Able to quickly & organically build strong relationships at all levels cross functionally and globally, as well leverage and extend internal and external networks to develop strategic partnerships
  • Strong cultural awareness and the ability to work with, collaborate, and influence diverse teams and groups and across geographies
  • A strategic, creative, and systems-based attitude with a passion for action and accountability


How You'll Lead:
  • You will work with HR, Senior Leadership, and Employee Inclusion Networks to set DEI objectives and targets, communications, and future DEI strategy
  • You will partner with the broader DEI community to develop key partnerships and establish DWS as a thought leader and champion of inclusion best practices demonstrating proven results
  • Provide day-to day guidance to EINS Groups on their communications needs to build awareness within organization, and partner with CSR and EINs to further extend DWS social impact through our global community-based work
