The Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS), Space and Launch Division is seeking an Associate Mechanical Engineer to support the team in Tukwila, WA.  The Associate Mechanical Engineer will be a part of a high-performing team that are immersed in high intensity development projects.  As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of our innovative technology in an agile environment.  As an Associate Mechanical Engineer you will collaborate with teammates, design, implement and test, which support our Space and Launch operations. Travel to other sites within the Puget Sound area may be required.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Supports the development and documentation of mechanical, electrical, and thermal environment requirements to establish the system design.
  • Supports the development, maintenance or modification of system, component and installation designs/proposals to provide design documentation to downstream groups.
  • Performs and documents analyses to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
  • Contributes to supplier development, test and production activities and directs the supplier to optimize integration and achieve program goals.
  • Supports system components' designs/proposals standards to provide installation and detail documentation.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Security Clearance:

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship as a condition of employment. An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Export Control:

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Minimum BS degree in Engineering, Physics or related technical course of study is required
  • 1+ Experience in development, build and test of spacecraft

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Current Secret/Top Secret Clearance
  • Experience with mechanical and system integration.
  • Experience with mechanisms design.
  • Experience with CATIA, Teamcenter, or other industry standard CAD and FEA tools
  • Experience working across multiple disciplines in a rapid development environment
  • Prior history working in a classified environment

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
