Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, career- and customer-oriented Associate Technical Writer to join our team in Chantilly, VA, to provide unparalleled support to our customer and to begin or advance an exciting and rewarding career within ManTech.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Copy-edit technical documents such as Standard Operating Procedures, Configuration Guides, various plans, development-related artifacts, and various other technical documents to ensure information is clear, concise, consistent, comprehensive, accurate, and compliant with established customer requirements, and to ensure adherence to program standards and conventions.
  • Edit and format technically complete draft documents to ensure that information meets applicable standards and conventions, is appropriate for the intended audience, is readable on both the technical and non-technical levels, and fulfills the documentation requirements.
  • Work with technical teams to obtain in-depth knowledge and understanding of the subject matter and the documentation requirements.
  • Provide centralized documentation control, from document creation through sunset, using various industry standard tools and methodologies for such aspects as library management, version control, review and approval processes, and Quality Assurance.
  • Create and maintain the various templates and convention guides for the program.
  • Create, edit, and update PDF-based forms on an ad hoc basis, typically converting Microsoft Word mock-ups or Adobe PDF documents into fillable PDF forms.
  • Occasionally edit technical drawings for clarity fixes and other minor updates, typically using Microsoft Visio.
  • Work with management, engineers, and subject matter experts to understand, identify, and map operational processes and suggest applicable improvements.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Requires Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in related technical field or equivalent experience and up to two years of related (technical writing/editing) experience. Or, six to eight years relevant experience with high school diploma.
  • Familiar with Adobe Acrobat and the Microsoft Office suite of products.  Specifically, be experienced in Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat
  • Strong user in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
  • Beginner to moderate user in Microsoft Project

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Significant experience with SharePoint content collaboration
  • Experience with Acrobat Forms
  • Experience with Wiki content
  • Familiar with ITIL concepts, constructs, and processes.  ITIL Foundations v4 certification is desired.

Security Clearance Requirements:

  • Active Top Secret clearance adjudicated within the past 6 years. Willingness to submit for a CI Polygraph.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with co-workers, management and customers, which may involve delivering presentations. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
