The Missile and Weapon Systems (MWS) Product Security Engineering (PSE) Function is seeking a motivated Product Security Engineer to join our team. The MWS PSE team is responsible for the security, resiliency, and safety of our products and services.

In this role, you will be responsible for the design and implementation of product cybersecurity requirements, controls, and best practices; analysis and mitigation of threats, vulnerabilities, and risks; support testing and evaluation; and ensuring the closure of compliance and authorization decisions for our family of Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) products and programs. In this role you will work in close collaboration with software, systems, electrical and other engineering teams in the design and maturation of the products.

In this role you will joining and working with engineers from across the division, which is a dynamic and growing organization with a leadership team focused on attracting and developing top talent in support of critical missions for National Defense and Strategic Deterrence. The programs that we support, include Ground-based Midcourse Defense, Precision-guided Munitions, Integrated Air & Missile Defense products (PAC-3, Avenger, ABMD); Missile Defense Agency National Team (Systems Engineering, C2BMC), and Strategic Deterrence Systems (which includes Minuteman ICBM support and guidance system repair). The ideal candidate has a demonstrated history of performance in product engineering in systems, software, electrical, computer, cybersecurity, and other related engineering disciplines. They have experience throughout the lifecycle of product development and operations and experience with missile defense products, mission, and systems or other types of embedded systems and avionics. They also have experience in agile environments, with strong team partnerships and environments with challenging requirements and designs, which require novel solutions, fast-paced activities, and tight deadlines. Successful candidates are highly motivated and exhibit strong written and verbal communication, inter-personal, and problem solving skills, as well as the ability to work independently and effectively with external customers and subcontractors in a multi-site and multi-discipline program and environment.

You will be joining a team of multi-disciplinary product security engineers across Boeing, that are jointly developing best practices, techniques and tools, and a community to draw upon to deliver best value to our customers.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Performing recurring cyber and systems security engineering, threat and risk assessment as part of a cyber-maturation process that establishes threat surfaces and mitigations to maximize resiliency and address vulnerabilities

  • Performing design analysis and requirements development to ensure compliant and secure products

  • Support development of testing and evaluation plans, including cyber test activities

  • Cyber table top participation

  • Plan and execute product-centric Risk Management Framework (RMF) efforts, including associated compliance materials and submissions

  • Perform assessment of software assurance activities and results/products, to ensure the security pedigree of our software solutions

  • Utilize static analysis and other engineering tools and products to assess, report, and adjudicate the mitigation of concerns in collaboration with software engineering

  • Support and perform system analysis for cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and risk

  • Support and facilitate the Authority to Operate (ATO) packages

  • Support and guide programs with product security expertise related to program performance and execution

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or other technical degree

  • 3+ years of experience in cyber security

  • DoD 8570 IAM/IAT Level 1 certification or higher

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Active U.S. secret security clearance

  • IAM Level 2 – CAP, CISSP

  • Experience defining, allocating, implementing, assessing, and validating cybersecurity related requirements over the entire engineering and product life-cycle

  • Experience in performing, documenting, and communicating the analysis of cyber vulnerabilities, threats, and risks

  • Experience in working with Risk Management Framework (RMF) plans and considerations

  • Experience in system and component level cyber test and evaluation, including threat and security assessments, and table top exercises

  • Experience in software assurance planning and assessment, including static and dynamic code analysis tools and results

  • Experience in the analysis of embedded products

  • Experience in supporting or performing cyber threat intelligence analysis

  • Understanding and experience in engineering, including:

    • Requirements, Concepts of Operations, and Use Cases

    • Development of Hardware and Software products

    • Integration and Unit Test

    • Verification and Validation

    • Testing, including Acceptance and Fielding Tests

  • Understanding and experience of types of testing and threat/vulnerability/risk assessment

  • Understanding and working knowledge of various standards, including: DFARS Clause 252.204-7012, CNSSI 1253, DOD 8570, NIST 800-160, NIST 800-53 (and 53A), NIST 800-30, NIST 800-171, NIST 800-55, NIST 800-137, NIST 800-39

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
