I have an exciting Direct Hire opportunity for a Electrical Controls Engineering Manager to lead a team of 11 highly skilled employees and lead site efforts to increase the effectiveness, efficiency, and reliability of our electrical systems, equipment, and electrical distribution.

Our client is one of the largest and most diversified specialty materials and components producers in the world with revenues of approximately $4.0 billion for the last twelve months. And has approximately 9,600 full-time employees world-wide who use innovative technologies to offer global markets a wide range of specialty materials solutions.

Their major markets are aerospace and defense, oil and gas/chemical process industry, electrical energy, medical, automotive, food equipment and appliance, and construction and mining.


This is a full-time permanent position working in Millersburg, Oregon approximately 1 hour south of Portland, Oregon.

If you are an Electrical Controls Engineering Manager with a current Oregon PE certification or ability to obtain one within one year and looking for an opportunity to grow. This is for you.
A key aspect of this role is also to manage our Electrical Master Permit Program and providing site signing supervision.
What you will need for this position:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • A current Oregon PE certification or ability to obtain one within one year
  • At least 8 year's electrical engineering experience
  • At least 3 years of formal leadership experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
  • Strong ability to analyze and resolve problems to the root cause and implement corrective actions
  • Ability to lead, train and be a team play following all company policies, union contracts and safety regulations
  • Ability to work independently with high motivation and organization capabilities
  • Possess excellent mathematical reasoning abilities in order to comprehend and apply engineering principles
In this role you will:

A successful Manager, Electrical and Controls Engineering is a thought leader, problem solver and influencer who provides technical electrical engineering leadership to accomplish business goals that support our continued growth. A successful leader is also comfortable wearing many hats, must be able to multi-task, work well under pressure, and have exceptional electrical trouble shooting skills. In order to become successful, you will have to quickly learn our equipment and systems, and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams such as maintenance, production, quality, information technology, and other engineering functions to accomplish goals.


  • Implement NEC, NFPA, & OESC code related and code change training plans for licensed electrical staff.
  • Implement designs and process to increase equipment reliability.
  • Manage Companies controls and instrumentation architecture future projects.
  • Manage on site Electrical Master Permit Program.
  • Develop standardization for tiered documentation of digital control systems such as Delta V, Wonderware, etc.
  • Provide onsite coordination of maintenance personnel, plant engineering, department engineers and outside contractors.
  • Supervise staff engineers in Plant Engineering in the electrical/controls disciplines for project development, budget preparation and project execution.
  • Prepare specification for purchase of material, components, systems, services and equipment.
  • Evaluate needs and implement Arc Flash Studies and infrared scanning, circuit breaker testing and transformer testing plans.
