Sr. Advanced Project Management Specialist/ Manufacturing Engineer

Responsible for establishing manufacturing processes for aerospace components among supply base in various global locations as per Honeywell Aerospace Sourcing Strategies. This role involves evaluating the design and manufacturing requirements for aerospace components, assemblies and LRUs, identifying suitable suppliers across globe evaluating and selecting appropriate suppliers, developing and qualifying the products with them. Also responsible to carry out cost estimation, and support the sourcing team in negotiations. The Manufacturing engineer leads the technical execution of sourcing projects at suppliers which includes product development, testing and qualification. A considerable amount of interaction with internal and external stakeholders, and working in a highly ambiguous environment are involved.

Accountabilities:

  • Create and/or evaluate business cases for potential transition projects for Build to Spec (Supplier owned IP) and Build to Print products/parts.
  • Review Honeywell drawings and Specification and make technical summary to give logical grouping of parts, define supplier capabilities (Design, Material, Processes, Infrastructure) required and potential suppliers.

·         Evaluate engineering drawings for adequacy of technical information for initiating supplier identification and coordinate with Engg/Design teams to define the complete technical requirements for all parts in the given package.

·         Identify the risks involved in each technical package (design/manufacturing/testing/qualification related) develop mitigation plans and drive actions to resolution.

·         Provide technical clarification to potential suppliers, Co-ordinate with Engineering on technical queries. Support sourcing on RFQ process and negotiations to achieve competitive bids.

·         Report out the weekly Project progress for the team & leadership thru Metrics, Milestones, and Early Warnings at various Tier levels.

·         Evaluate designs, process sheets, tool design, handling and packaging methods etc. (if applicable) by the suppliers to ensure timely completion of process prove outs and F.A.I.R 

·         Provide technical support for manufacturing processes to the supplier when needed.

Requirements: (10-13 years Experience, Graduate in Engineering – Mechanical / Production or equivalent)

·         Hands-on experience in Manufacturing, Assembly and/or Testing and qualification of Aerospace or Automotive components in a supervisory role.

·         Project Management skills: Capable to handle end to end projects involving multi-stake holders both external and Internal.

·         Knowledge in manufacturing process:- Process sheets, Tooling, Quality Assurance, Work Instructions. Machining of Castings and Forgings. Knowledge on design/manufacture of aerospace non-metallic products (Composites, polymers etc) will be an added advantage.

·         Experience in design of tooling- Jigs, Fixtures, Gages, Test Rigs etc, thorough understanding on GD&T

·         Sound Analytical skills (technical, commercial, market), capability to make decisions with minimum data. Problem Identification, proposing corrective and preventive actions and defining implementation plan

·         Familiarity with project management tools, Quality system requirements such as ISO9001, AS9100.

·         Basic knowledge in CAD- NX, and PLM tool such as Teamcenter.

·         Knowledge on Aerospace materials and Special processes- Heat Treatment, Chemical and electrochemical processes, Coating processes, Welding and Brazing. Experience in Manufacturing of Aero Engines components will be an added advantage.

·         Basic knowledge in Lean/Six Sigma tools and Methods.

o   FMEA, Control plans, RCCA/Rapid Problem Solving, Value Stream Mapping, Poke yoke Methods

o   Process capability, Gage R& R, Statistical Process Control methods.

·         Excellent Communication Skills, Fluent English written and spoken.

·         A self-starter, able to determine, plan and prioritize workload in an ambiguous situation to achieve targets.

·         Other competencies required for this role include: building relationships; Influencing skills; dealing with ambiguity; interpersonal and communication skills; conflict and change management; drive for results.
