The Mathematics and Computer Science Division at Argonne National Laboratory seeks a postdoctoral appointee in computer science to perform research in optimizing communication runtimesystems and threading systems for large distributed computing platforms. The successful candidate will workas part of a multidisciplinary research team involving computer andcomputational scientists, physicists, and mathematicians to enable data analysisof simulations and experiments running on DOE leadership-class supercomputingarchitectures and facilities.

The MCS Division at Argonne National Laboratory is a leader in the design of advanced systems software tools and applications of interest to the U.S. Department of Energy, U.S. Department of Defense and various industry partners. Appointees will participate in a collegial and stimulating environment, including access to multidisciplinary collaborations,world-classsoftware toolkitsand some of the world'slargest supercomputers includingUS's first exascale supercomputer,"Aurora".

Position Requirements

  • A recent or soon-to-be completed PhD in computer science, or related discipline
  • Programming with C/C++
  • High performance computing systems MPI, OpenMP, PGAS or equivalent parallel programming models
  • Programming with accelerators such as GPUs
  • Experience in the aforementioned topics is more important than the field in which you received your Ph.D.
  • Good collaborative skills, including the ability to work well with scienceteams, other laboratories, and universities
  • Good self-motivation to solve problems and grow professionally
  • Good written and oral communication skills
