Overview:

The Roofing Foreman will be responsible for leading re-roof projects and repairs.  This is a working field position that leads a team of 3 to 6 members. The Roofing Foreman will be cross-trained as a Lead PV Installer as well.

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide professional guidance and support to fellow installation crew members

  • Responsible for the successful re-roof and repair of clients roofs including but not limited to:

    • Safely loading and unloading roofing materials from the vehicle to the roof using pulleys or a ladder

    • Ensuring there are adequate materials and equipment to safely and efficiently complete projects

    • Safely removing and clearing existing roofing from home

    • Installing new roofing-composition, tile, and single-ply roofing according to manufacturer specifications

    • Repairing and/or replacing damaged sheathing, starter, fascia, and rafters

    • Locating and repairing cracked tiles; filling in missing tiles; clearing out gutters and drains; locating and fixing leaks; repairing damage caused by storms and high winds

  • Organize, lead, and train crew members to complete projects within established guidelines and timeframes by:

    • Ensuring crew’s attention to detail with an emphasis on safety, quality, customer service, project workflow and productivity

    • Effectively maintain project documentation and photo requirements

    • Demonstrating knowledge of OSHA standards related to roofing procedures and maintain and enforce site safety practices and standards in OSHA compliance

    • Demonstrating understanding of how materials and roofing systems go together and come apart in order to complete repairs to existing roofing systems

    • Developing and maintaining positive working dynamic within installation crew and branch co-workers

    • Maintaining consistent and appropriate interface with customer throughout construction phase maintaining good customer relations at all times

    • Performing weekly vehicle inspection for proper tire pressures, oil level, working lights, etc.

    • Obtaining customer payments and deliver to management as required

    • Maintaining excellent lines of communication with co-workers and customers

    • Performing service calls when necessary

 

MARGINAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Installation of the mechanical systems of ground or roof mounted solar system

  • Assemble the racking and solar array

  • Assemble equipment along with properly sealing all roof penetrations

  • Complete trenching, concrete work and equipment assembly

  • Conduct project clean up including client site and installation vehicle

  • Lead crew through effective and efficient solar installation

Qualifications:

This high visibility role requires an outstanding customer-focused, detail-oriented leader with:

  • A minimum of five (5) years roofing experience, including concrete tile, clay tile, composition shingle, single ply membrane, modified bitumen, and built-up roofing; OR, completion of a four year federally approved technical training program in roofing; OR any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved

  • Previous solar installation experience preferred

  • Knowledge of standard roofing procedures, methods, materials, systems,  and buildings codes as they relate to the roofing process

  • Basic carpentry skills as they relate to roofing; plywood and shiplap replacement

  • Ability to carry materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks (up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with assistance)

  • Ability to work safely in a branch/warehouse/rooftop environment and with construction tools.

  • CPR and First Aid Certifications and kept maintained for purposes of continued employment (class costs are reimbursable by the company)

  • Ability to drive a vehicle during the normal course of business. Must maintain a clean driving record with the ability to pass a driving background check throughout the course of employment. Must be 21 years of age or older and possess a valid driver’s license

  • A strong work ethic, high level of craftsmanship/workmanship with strong attention to detail

  • Excellent people skills, able to manage, motivate and discipline when necessary

  • Excellent documentation skills

  • Professional appearance and excellent customer interaction skills

  • A High school diploma or GED required; Completion of a four year federally approved technical training program in roofing preferred 

  • Bilingual a plus

  • 5% travel is required
