ManTech’s Human Space Flight Support (HSFS) team is integrated with and directly supports Detachment 3, 1st Air Force (Det 3, 1 AF) mission of HSFS for all National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) crewed space programs - Soyuz, Artemis and Commercial Crew - across the Planning, Training, Execution, and Sustainment phases of the HSFS mission.  

Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Communications Systems Technician to join our team at Patrick Space Force Base (PSFB) and Cape Canaveral Space Force Station (CCSFS), FL. 

The candidate will utilize his/her technical expertise to support a split-location team of 55+ personnel that is equipped with computers, specialized software and communications equipment.  The candidate will deploy, sustain, troubleshoot, and repair standard voice, data, video network, and cryptographic client devices.  The candidate will sustain and operate systems through effective troubleshooting, repair, and system performance analysis, as well as manage client user accounts and organizational client device accounts.

Duties and Responsibilities Include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage hardware and software; perform configuration, management, and troubleshooting; remove and replace communication system components and peripherals to restore system operation.
  • Provide service to end-users for operation, restoration, and configuration of information systems.  Report security incidents and executes corrective security procedures.
  • Manage secure authentication methods utilizing public key infrastructure (PKI) technologies and procedures.  Standardize user privileges and system settings using automated deployment tools. 
  • Implement security fixes, operating system patches, and antivirus software.  Develop, test and implement local restoral and contingency operations plans.
  • Process and review communications systems requirement documentation, telecommunication service requests, status of acquisition messages and telecommunication service orders. 
  • Perform system resource management, managing system accounts, performing system-wide backups and data recovery and load and capacity planning and management.
  • Administer unclassified message traffic via electronic mail systems, database operations, implementing conversions and investigating problems in the database environment. 
  • Ensure continuing systems operability by providing ongoing optimization and problem-solving support.  Apply computer security policies to safeguard systems and information.
  • Categorize, isolate and resolve system problems.  Perform fault isolation by validating, isolating and correcting faults, and verifying service restoration with customers. 
  • Process, document and coordinate the resolution of trouble calls from lower support echelons.  Process scheduled and authorized outages.  Submit outage reports in response to unscheduled outages.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Graduate of Air Force Air Force Client server training (or Industry/other service equivalent).
  • Security + certification (or Industry/other service equivalent).
  • 5+ years of professional experience in network/communications systems.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills, be very adaptable to change and have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of contractor and Government employees, and possess strong organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Some travel may be required for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree desired.
  • 8+ years of experience working with DoD Communications/Information Systems.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, results-oriented team environment.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented and able to thrive under deadline pressure.

Security Clearance Requirements:

  • Must have or be able to obtain a Top Secret security clearance

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently moves or manipulates office or communications equipment weighing up to 80 pounds. 
  • Must be willing to work extended hours, and occasionally holidays/weekends as dictated by mission requirements.
