Lilly is designing and building a new state of the art Parenteral, Device Assembly, and Packaging Facility located at the Research Triangle Park (RTP) in North Carolina.  This is an exciting opportunity to help build and operate a state-of-the-art manufacturing site from the ground up.

This position is responsible for initial set up of site procurement activities and will transition to be responsible for the management of supplier’s delivering the direct or indirect supply chain for RTP. This position requires the following skills: 

  • Demonstrated ability to work cross functionally within the site, and the ability to influence without authority to drive change and implement/complete new processes.
  • Strong analytical & interpersonal skills for strategic networking across  sites’ leadership, global Procurement organization, and with third parties that make up the RTP supply chain.   
  • Proactivity to anticipate potential issues within the sites’ supply chains and self-motivation to both develop and implement solutions. 
  • Understanding of the fundamentals of the Manufacturing Standards of Operational Excellence (MSOEs)
  • Strong multitasking and prioritization capabilities
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Key Objectives/Deliverables:

  • Support RTP site readiness from a procurement perspective
  • Develop strong understanding of the RTP business, and ensure that procurement strategy is aligned with RTP’s business plan, business needs, and objectives, as well as, corporate strategy.  Communicate with site lead teams appropriately, in order to maintain this alignment, and be able to effectively drive projects toward site goals.
  • Consolidation and monthly presentation of captured and forecasted site savings, in alignment with Global Procurement methodology
  • Establish and manage local relationships with RTP’s third party business partners while integrating global suppliers into the RTP supply chain
  • Lead Supplier Relations Management (SRM) activities for strategic third party suppliers. Drive action items, issue resolution, and continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers.  
  • Establish, maintain, and update Master Supply Agreements (MSAs) for which RTP is the lead site or key influencer.  Leverage expertise and guidance from Global Procurement, and align with global strategies.
  • Seek out and implement quality, reliability, efficiency and cost savings projects with suppliers.
  • Make and/or support decisions regarding quality of materials/suppliers, resolution of material/supplier issues, and monitor/maintain a high quality for supplier relations.
  • Provide monthly demand forecasts to suppliers as applicable
  • Establish and maintain strong partnerships with Lilly’s Global Procurement and fellow Site Procurement category owners
  • Conduct benchmarking analysis to evaluate market landscape for supported categories
  • Work with Global Procurement and Site Finance support to establish strong business cases for the formation of new third party business relationships and for the establishment of new service lines with existing suppliers. 
  • Communicate project proposal details and positive impact to site lead team and gain alignment on new initiatives.
  • Form and maintain close working relationships with demand planners and MRP Buyers as appropriate to ensure supply continuity security and integrity, optimizing processes and minimizing waste.
  • Accountability for partnering with MRP Buyers and RTP Planners to ensure that SAP material data (e.g. planning time fence, safety stock needs, pricing) are accurate and updated on a minimum annual basis. 
  • Support Lilly Supplier Diversity Initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with Lilly Procurement Policies and procedures, the Financial Responsibility and Authorization Policy (FRAP), and Regulatory commitments

Minimum Requirements:

  • Previous supply chain, manufacturing, and/or procurement experience
  • Ability to work autonomously, be self-directed, prioritize responsibilities, and be action-oriented
  • Independent decision making and ability to influence diverse groups without authority, both internally and externally
  • Strong teamwork, presentation, and interpersonal skills exhibited across all functional, technical, leadership, administrative, and organizational areas
  • Demonstrated learning agility and ability/willingness to adapt to continual change
  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Lilly does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position

Additional Preferences:

  • MBA
  • Green or black belt training
  • Project Management experience

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree – Business, Engineering or similar field

Other Information:

  • The position is for the Lilly Research Triangle Park site and during the project phase will allow for a flexible working environment with the ability to periodically work remotely based on the project phase and site activities.
  • Domestic and international travel estimated at 0 - 10% annually.
  • Work outside of normal core business hours may be required at times.
