The Center for Gender Surgery at Boston Children's Hospital offers gender affirmation surgery services to eligible adolescents and young adults who are ready to take this step in their journey. It is the first center of its kind in the U.S. in a major pediatric hospital setting


The CGS Social Worker will be responsible for:
  • Providing clinical social work services to assist patients and families with personal, family, medical and environmental difficulties.
  • Performing psychosocial and risk assessments, assigns diagnoses and develops and implements interventions and treatment plans.
  • Participating in planning and implementation of discharge and outpatient service plans and collaborates with health care team and community agencies to plan.
  • Implementing and following up on treatment and provision of needed services.

To qualify, you must have:
  • A Master’s degree in Social Work, LCSW, LICSW is preferred.
  • Flexibility and the ability to work in fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong clinical skills and experience with various therapeutic modalities, previous medical social work experience is preferred.
  • Spanish language skills are a plus.

Boston Children's Hospital is a 404-bed comprehensive center for pediatric health care. As one of the largest pediatric medical centers in the United States, Boston Children's offers a complete range of health care services for children from birth through 21 years of age. (Our services can begin interventions at 15 weeks gestation and in some situations we also treat adults.)

We have approximately 25,000 inpatient admissions each year and our 200+ specialized clinical programs schedule 557,000 visits annually. Last year, the hospital performed more than 26,500 surgical procedures and 214,000 radiological examinations.
