This position is for a seasoned Chemical and Materials Engineering professional working independently.__ Designs surface engineering solutions, develops processes and common procedures, conducts tests on raw materials, and trains less experienced engineers in the function.

This individual will work in a Hybrid Model out of the Windsor Locks, CT location.

Primary Responsibilities:
___ Conducts research to develop new and improved surface engineering processes, such as for corrosion protection, wear resistance, etc..
___ Develops process standards using controlled chemical processes.
___ Conducts or supervises tests on materials or finished products to ensure their quality, and works to remedy issues both internally and with our customers if specification not followed correctly.
___ Designs and directs the testing for new surface engineering processes, including material analysis and optimization.
___ Works cooperatively in a multidiscipline team to ensure best design as well as collecting data for computation and model-based approaches.
___ Provides technical leadership and assists in training less experienced engineers, when required, to help them diagnose and solve problems and enhance their capabilities.
___ Creates and implements common procedures and standard work across the organization to optimize efficiency and quality.
___ Analyzes, researches, designs and develops materials and their related fabrication and application processes to develop and optimize materials for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures, systems and subsystems.
___ Performs material analyses that include, but are not limited to, failure analysis of components, systems and subsystems, life predictions, and definition and requirement specifications.
___ Applies principles of chemistry, physics, and material behavior to develop metallic, non-metallic and composite material and processing specifications, fabrication and assembly processes.
___ May review and approve subcontractor material processing procedures.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Bachelor___s degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations OR Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience. In absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required

  • Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident ___Green Card___ holder

  • Must be willing and able to travel 15% of the time

  • 3+ years experience with corrosion mitigation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in manufacturing

  • 2+ years experience with plating and/or coating wear experience

  • Electrochemistry experience

  • experience with modeling and/or analytical characterization
