Summary

A seasoned IT professional, providing advanced proficiency within the Network Engineering family developing and applying technical expertise and leadership in two or more IT disciplines that support Cook Children’s technical infrastructure. This includes technologies, systems, networks, data architectures, capacity planning, performance management, security and configuration management. Jobs in this family are responsible for developing, testing, maintaining, installing, and/or deploying technologies. In addition, they are responsible for the establishment, development, and promotion of standard architectures, as well as hardware and software components. This role provides consulting services to application development teams and/or customers regarding technologies and the application of specific technology standards.

Responsibilities include: Configures, tests, and maintains LAN/WAN equipment and related services. Identifies, diagnoses, and resolves network problems. Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for all implemented networks. Liaison with 3rd parties, customers and internal teams to ensure completion of tasks. Prepares technical solutions proposals and budgetary estimates. Analyze and rectify complex faults on the network to meet defined service levels. Support network investigation/performance routines to ensure network availability. Perform complex configuration changes. Maintain and support company’s LAN/WAN environment. Implement complex hardware and software upgrades. Analyze, create and report on project implementation plans. Assist in the coaching and technical assessment of staff to aid development. Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation. Maintain and extend technical skills and knowledge in order to remain proficient in the role. Obtain and maintain required certifications.

Qualifications:

  • Position requires at least 7 years of direct experience and a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • 7 years of Cisco networking experience highly preferred.

  • CCNA/CCNP Cisco certification is preferred.

  • A BA/BS degree in IS or Business is preferred.
