Requisition Number: S_210589 Department: College of Law-0899 Description of Work: This position is part of the Student Services Team at the University of Nebraska College of Law. The person who fills this position will perform academic advising for law students including but not limited to course selection, specialization, course sequences/prerequisites, graduation requirements, leaves, withdrawals, visiting, study abroad, and transfer; advise students on personal matters; coordinate faculty advisors; assist with academic skills programming activities; keep up to date on university and law college policies, regulations, and rules regarding degree requirements, drops, adds, and withdrawals; review externships for compliance with law college rules and American Bar Association standards; assist with dissemination of information on curriculum, policies, and procedures related to academics; refer students to appropriate staff for financial aid and career assistance; follow up with students who raise academic or personal issues of concern; become familiar with Title IX, FERPA , and other privacy rules; assist with special projects; serve on committees; and perform other duties as assigned. One (1) year of previous counseling or higher education experience. Excellent oral and written communication skills, sensitivity, empathy, cultural competence, attention to detail, integrity, and analytical skills are required.  Preferred Qualifications: The ideal candidate may have a Master's degree in counseling, student affairs, higher education, law, or related field, or a JD degree. Three or more years of experience in higher education academic advising. Detailed understanding of American Bar Association, university and law college academic rules, academic calendars, and scheduled course offerings. Capable of learning, understanding, and interpreting rules, regulations, statutes, and policies pertaining to law students. Posted Salary: $23.077/hr Job Type: Part-Time
