Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. Position is located in Melbourne, Florida. Essential Functions: This role supports an operational program environment by developing new capabilities, testing, troubleshooting, and resolving problems/anomalies. This position offers an opportunity to learn the technology stack through self-guided study and mentorship from senior engineers on the program. There are opportunities to solve exciting and technically challenging issues contributing to the design of the overall system. Analysis of change requests and requirements for a new software support capabilities, software, COTS/GOTS integration, implementation of software using C++, python scripts, and other programming tools. Ability to take ownership of hard problems, drive to a solution, while working in a team environment, and provide leadership for its implementation.  Participate in the full life-cycle of software development, to include requirements development, modeling and design, application development, unit to CSCI testing, integration, formal system testing, release, installation, and maintenance. Apply technical expertise in solving complex integrations problems.   Interact with Program Management, external suppliers and/or government customers; therefore, excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills are essential.  A solid experience in Java, C/C++, or other OOP languages, in Windows and/or Linux environment is required. Facilitate and analyze large data sets by applying in-depth knowledge of automated testing to facilitate Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field from an accredited university with 5-years of software engineering experience OR a Master’s Degree in (STEM) with 3-years of software engineering experience OR a PhD Degree in (STEM.) Experience with systems integration, especially software/hardware integration Experience developing software/writing code in C/C++ and/or other OOP languages in Windows and/or Linux environment At minimum, an active DoD Interim Secret clearance is required, with the ability to obtain and maintain a full DoD Secret level clearance and program access Preferred Qualifications: Experience with the Atlassian tool suite with add-ons such as JIRA, Git, and Confluence Experience with the Agile software development process Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering Software Lead Experience Experience in Ada Software test planning for embedded systems Experience working with supplier side software, and multiple software baselines Benefits: In addition to a full benefits package, 401k matching, PTO, Holidays etc… we offer flexible work arrangements, phenomenal learning opportunities, exposure to a wide variety of projects and customers, and a very friendly team environment.
