Kelly Engineering is currently seeking a Production & Equipment Superintendent for a long-term engagement at one of our Global clients specializing in Orthopaedics.

This role is a full-time, fully benefitted position located in Raynham, MA.  You will be eligible for Medical, Dental, 401K and a variety of other benefits to choose from.   You’ll also be eligible for paid time off, including holiday, vacation and sick/personal time.  Employees receive annual performance reviews.

 Position Description

The Production & Equipment Superintendent will play a strategic role in supporting Production Maintenance for Raynham Orthopaedics manufacturing expansions and production equipment. 

This position will plan and schedule all manufacturing expansion work and special projects generated by the New Product Introduction (NPI) Engineering department and by other departments of the Plant.  Serves as the official contact to other departments for coordination of production equipment and facilities manufacturing expansions.  Assures project activities are efficient and effective by making costs estimates in terms of time, materials, parts and the hiring of outside contractors. This role will support day-to-day NPI Engineering situations impacting project schedule and improving manufacturing equipment capacity as well as new equipment selection, installation and validation related activities.

 

  • Provides support in the receiving, planning, work estimates, and the coordination of manufacturing expansion work and special projects generated by the New Product Introduction (NPI) Engineering department.
  • Reviews project scope, clarifies details with the originator to ensure objective of the project.
  • Pay special attention to work orders for corrective and preventive actions.
  • Makes costs estimates of project in terms of time, materials, parts and the hiring of outside contractors
  • Provides team work to the impacted manufacturing area and to the Planning group.
  • Coordinate equipment, facilities availability to effectively execute project.
  • Serves as the official contact to other departments for the coordination of project.
  • Prepares a daily work schedule, by shift and by trade, at least one day prior to the execution of the work schedule.
  • Personally, delivers the work schedule to the respective project engineer.
  • Assists in the preparation of "Plant Shutdowns" and verifies all work requirements of departments and trades with the maintenance supervisors and with the validation group.
  • Acquires a preapproval from the project engineer if the job will be completed in overtime.
  • Attends the weekly plan meetings and meets with the tactical group to ensure that the communication channels are appropriate and clear.
  • Establishes constant communication with all the production planners to minimize any possible interference between production and project work.
  • Ensures that all commitments and agreements are written and followed all the time.
  • Ensures compliance with any documentation required by the Environmental Engineer when the work order has any environmental impact.
  • Ensures compliance with all regulations of GMPs, Safety, Industrial Hygiene and Ergonomics at all times.
  • Plans and keeps control of the work performed by contractors.
  • Is accountable of generating various reports:
  • Project Schedule (with I or 2 weeks in advance).
  • Project Status (in a weekly basis)

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum Vocational, Certificate, Technical or Associates and 6-8 Years Work Experience.
  • A minimum of 1-3 years of experience working with GMPs and Manufacturing Processes in highly regulated industries is required.
  • A minimum 2 - 4 years of related equipment installations, manufacturing facility construction experience and/or training is required.
  • The ability to read and interpret complex assembly drawings, electrical and pneumatic schematics preferred.
  • Experience with automation including highly complex mechanical assemblies, pneumatics, PLC and motion controllers preferred.
  • Experience with manufacturing in a Clean Room environment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is required.
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing Processes, GMPs, OSHA and ISO applicable regulations is required.
  • Skills working with SOPs and compliance related documentation is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Process Excellence/Six Sigma tools and methodologies preferred.
  • Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have the ability to function in a team-based manufacturing environment.
  • The ability to collaborate with all levels of management in a cross-functional team environment is required.
  • Be present on the Manufacturing Site on a daily basis Monday to Friday regular business hours, minimum of 8 hours per day.
  • Once a month planned OT, weekend work, needs to be able to work extra hours, irregular shifts. Able to respond to emergency calls.
  • Able to support other departments or projects according to business needs.
