Director, Global Consumer Insights -House of Suntory & Courvoisier

Role Responsibilities

The Director, Global Consumer Insights-House of Suntory & Courvoisier will be responsible for supporting a portfolio of brands for Beam Suntory. The incumbent will report to the VP of Global Insights and will be an individual contributor responsible for identifying, developing and integrating consumer insights throughout the business unit to achieve marketplace success for global House of Suntory & Courvoisier.  This strategic partner will collaborate with the Global Brand House of House of Suntory & Courvoisier to drive consumer-centric decision making in planning and developing the global brands and portfolio strategy.  While having point accountability for custom market research, the incumbent must also draw from a variety of information sources and internal resources to develop insights focusing on local market understanding and cultural connections.  This role will also collaborate closely with regional and market insights partners on foundational and brand insights work for the portfolio.

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Works effectively with a cross functional team, agency and suppliers
  • Able to create a strong support network in suppliers to achieve individual contributor deliverables
  • Highly adaptable, works well in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • High level of accountability, flexibility and self-direction to work autonomously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; experienced and comfortable communicating with senior-level leaders
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and complete projects in a timely manner
  • Successfully influence cross-functional team members and high levels of the organization, even with limited authority
  • Lead qualitative and quantitative custom research projects throughout all stages including design, execution, analysis and recommendation
  • Resourceful and fiscally-minded to leverage previous custom research and other internal resources to inform POV on brand/portfolio strategy and guide business decisions
  • Experience with syndicated sources (e.g. Nielsen, IRI, Panel data, MRI etc.) and ability to generate category or brand insights and to form recommendations
  • Measure brand growth and marketing performance to drive greater effectiveness & efficiency    
  • Strong analytical skills and demonstrated ability to draw conclusions and extract meaningful insights from data (comfort in excel, data visualization, pivot tables, significance testing) 
  • Ensures business decisions are grounded in consumer/shopper understanding and brand building fundamentals

 

Qualifications

  • Relevant Bachelor’s degree required – Master’s degree a plus
  • Minimum 7-10 years of custom insight/research experience
  • Client-side research experience a must
  • Solid understanding of qualitative, quantitative, and advanced analytic research methodologies and suppliers (including new approaches)
  • Experience leading custom research across a variety of methodologies and business applications
  • Experience with Qualtrics, Toluna, or other DIY platform a plus
