Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) has an exciting career opportunity for a Lead Test Conductor to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in support of program program test activities. This position will be located at NAS (Naval Air Station) Patuxent River, MD.

Position Overview:

 The Program ITT (Integrated & Test Team) is a US Navy & Northrop Grumman combined test team working together to ensure future capabilities are tested and evaluated in an efficient manner. The selected candidate will perform a variety of data collection and technical support services on the Air vehicle and Ground Control Stations; and support the research and procurement of unmanned air vehicle components in direct support of life cycle sustainment.

Responsibilities include Interfacing with NGC and customer Flight Test Engineers, Flight Test Conductors, and Ground Operations Technicians. This position is the primary interface between maintenance, design and flight test engineering. Principal Test Conductors operate Vehicle and Payload Test Controller software during aircraft start-up/shut down for launch and recovery as well as for static ground tests utilizing BAMS Evaluation, Test and Troubleshooting Interface Equipment (BETTIE).

Essential Functions:  

Leads a team of Test Conductors performing operations in accordance with NGC policy and procedures, and NAVAIR 3960 Test Plans and Procedures and per NATOPS.

Reviews and provides inputs during engineering development and executes Detailed Test Requirements, Acceptance Test Procedures and ground Test Plans.

Prepares Test Variances in accordance with engineering direction and engineering changes.

Responsible for providing inputs to update Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals.

Integrates tests and develops strategies to improve test efficiency. Generates, reviews and executes Test Work Sheets and Requests for Tests (RFTs).

Responsible for tracking major milestones and coordination between the Ground Segment and Aircraft teams to ensure the system is properly configured and ready to support testing.

The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels. The selected candidate will need either to be located at NAS Patuxent River or be willing to relocate to the NAS Patuxent River area.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 9 years of related aircraft test experience, or a Master's Degree and 7 years of aircraft test experience, or a PhD and 4 years of aircraft test experience, or 13 years of exempt test experience in lieu of Degree will be considered.

A current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance or higher is required to start, with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous Unmanned Air Vehicle system test or maintenance experience is highly desired. MQ-4 Vehicle Test Controller or Triton BETTIE operator experience is preferred.

Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with excellent communications skills, including the ability to brief test results to senior leadership. Demonstrated ability to organize diverse teams.

A current Top Secret security clearance.
