NCR is looking for an accomplished Principal Engineer to join our team in Atlanta. Be part of creating a new era in NCR's 135-year history by leading the cloud expansion of our most critical services. As NCR moves full speed into their "API First" strategy,weare looking for a highly skilled architectwith strong technical and strategic leadership as we deliver our next generation platforms to the cloud including Google Cloud Platform and Azure. This role will require broad knowledge of Kubernetes, CI/CD,Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices, application development and architecture with previous work experience with both public and hybrid cloud solutions collaborating closely with Enterprise Architects to ensure our solutions are architected with integration in mind. This role is one of the highest technical leadership roles for NCR. It requires a combination of qualities that will enable a successful candidate to lead business and technical initiatives at the industry or domain level.

This role will take direction from the Retail Chief Architect and focus on building our next generation cloud retail platform.

Qualities:
  • Able to wear multiple hats: navigates freely between technical, execution, operations, etc.
  • Passionate: enjoys coding and designing next generation cloud technologies and architectures
  • Knowledgeable: cloud native microservices architecture, data architecture, analytics, software/application architecture
  • Able to produce outstanding designs and communicate them using diverse techniques, including documentation, POCs, demos, and educational sessions
  • Hands on coding: able to jump in to help teams understand best practices and meet deadlines
  • Strong experience with solutions-based architectures working with globally distributed teams and products to build out end to end cloud native integrations across our retail solutions
  • This role will take direction from the NCR Retail Chief Architect and will collaborate closely with several software development teams and architects across the company.

Responsibilities:
  • Architectural leadership and design for our strategic technology initiatives.
  • Providing technical expertise in POC, evaluations and implementations.
  • Evaluate current technology selections and make recommendations for improvement
  • Enhance the current CI/CD pipelines to support modern hybrid cloud deployments
  • Providing support and guidance to NCR's Retail Architects.
  • Providing support and consultation to NCR's customers.

Required Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Scienceor Engineering
  • 4+ years of experience working with software engineering teams in designing and building cloudplatforms and infrastructure
  • 2+ years of experience working with Kubernetes and containerized platforms
  • 2+ years of experience with data monitoring and logging tools likeStackDriver or Prometheus
  • 2+ years of experience with CI/CD tools and technology; like GitHub Actions,GitHub and Artifactory
  • 2+ years of experience with programming languages such as Go, Node.js, Java, Python
  • 2+ years of experience working with IAC/CM technology; like Terraform, Ansible and Helm
  • Data architecture (e.g. transactional and analytical processing, real-time analytics, etc.)
  • Experience with designing and implementing multi-tenant SaaS systems
  • Experience with cloud-based technologies and cloud adoption at the enterprise scale (e.g. leading enterprise-wide adoption of PaaS, Big Data platforms).
  • Strong collaboration and coaching skills
  • Strong believer in Infrastructure as Code
  • A continual learner that stays up-to-date on the latest technologies (attends and ideally presents at tech conferences)
  • Ability to document and publish recommendations and guidance

Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Experience with GCP, GKE, Apigee, and Istio
  • Experience with cloud-based integration, build and deploy technologies
  • Polyglot programming experience
  • Experience in Financial, Retail and/or Hospitality industry is a plus
  • Applied Data Science for AI enabled capabilities (ML/DL)
