Group Description
Wells Fargo Technology is going through a strategic transformation to simplify, streamline and enable technology for the future which currently supports a portfolio of 6,000 applications. As part of these transformative changes occurring in the Enterprise to include Card, Retail and Merchant Services Technology, Consumer Lending Technology (CLT) is transforming its role, focusing on modernization and rationalization of suite of applications by designing and building reusable enterprise capabilities.

Position Overview
We are currently looking to hire Lead Software Engineers and Solutions delivery specialists who are self-driven and have a holistic, big picture mindset in developing enterprise solutions. These roles will be responsible for designing modern domain-driven, event-driven Microservices architecture. They will lead solutions to be hosted on private and public Cloud platforms (PCF, Azure and AWS), integrate with Kafka for streaming. They will be partnering with our Enterprise Architects and building applications for CLT transformation initiatives. These hands on Senior Engineers will lead solutions through influence and technical expertise, strengthening relations across LOB engineering teams, and ultimately bring effectiveness in accomplishing CLT’s overall business and technology goals.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Responsible for leading technology solutions for large initiatives involving End-to-End implementation
  • Collaborate with business and technology groups to define target state for Credit Card and Merchant Service applications
  • Acts in the highest level technical role as a lead engineer as well as individual contributor for the most complex computer applications and projects
  • Solid understanding of industry proven design patterns and expert level understanding of distributed application architectures
  • Drive detailed technical design and perform design reviews
  • Partner with key stakeholders to create solutions design approach and lead the implementation with Agile, engineering mindset, relentless focus on quality and timely delivery
  • Influence developers and senior leadership to establish, develop, deliver and maintain all aspects of  applications framework
  • Practice a data-driven and KPI based approach to institutionalize continuous improvement of IT development practices
  • Assess enterprise line of businesses, and strategies, roadmaps and designs for potential alignment and improvement opportunities for CLT
  • Responsible for partnering with Enterprise Information security architects to perform 3rd party security assessments on external integrations to align with enterprise privacy and regulatory policies
  • Drive Technology SLA and performance management by working closely with internal as well as third party strategic partners
  • Challenge status quo and be a change agent to drive implementation of technology solutions
  • Synthesize, document and present findings
  • Collaborate with division sponsoring leaders to optimize investment decisions by advocating latest industry trends and solution approaches


Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of software engineering experience
  • 7+ years of J2EE experience
  • 7+ years of RESTful or SOAP web services
  • 5+ years of SQL experience
  • 2+ years of MongoDB experience
  • 2+ years of experience with Kafka and PubSub patterns tools
  • 2+ years of experience in microservices development



Desired Qualifications

  • An industry-standard technology certification
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Financial services industry experience
  • Ability to simultaneously lead multiple projects
  • Knowledge and understanding of DevOps principles
  • Knowledge and understanding of Cloud computing, PaaS design principles and micro services and containers
  • Experience leading and executing complex technology transformational programs across an enterprise
  • Virtual leadership experience with ability to effectively drive results, provide feedback/direction, and manage and build relationships with leaders and team members in a geographically dispersed team environment
  • Agile experience



Other Desired Qualifications
  • 7+ years of IT experience in systems analysis, planning & designing applications and frameworks
  • 7+ years of experience in End-to-End solution design using proven architectural & design patterns
  • 5+ years of client side web development using React/Angular/jQuery/JavaScript
  • 5+ years of experience with Cloud technologies PCF/AWS/Azure
  • 2+ years designing Microservices for deployment on an internal or public cloud platform/environment
  • Credit Card and Merchant Services experience is a plus
  • Proficiency in envisioning and orchestrating End-to-End business solution with right mix of technologies including infrastructure sub-domain
  • Ability to analyze systems using reverse engineering techniques
  • Experience working in domain-driven, event-driven systems and related tools like Kafka for streaming
  • Solid understanding of distributed systems, synchronous/asynchronous messaging and networking protocols
  • Experience with API Gateways and integration frameworks, containers, container orchestration (Workflow and Orchestration/Choreography)
  • Experience integrating and securing private and public cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF), etc.
