Senior Software Architect, Product Engineering

Position Description

Role Overview

Reporting to the Head of Engineering, as the Solution Architect, you will provide technical leadership and drive sound solution architecture design for development, deployment, and evolution of AMN's enterprise suite of technology products, services, and overall experience for our most strategic clients.

In collaboration with engineering and product leadership, you will deploy your experience, skills, and dedication to design/build/support/advice all aspects of software, platform, tools/framework architecture to all product engineering teams across AMN engineering organization. Working closely with product management, you will develop the technical roadmap that aligns with building a world-class suite of enterprise application platform for our strategic clients. You will lead our efforts to ensure the highest quality software development across the Product Engineering group.

Role Specifics

More specifically, your key job tasks will be to:
  • Work with customers, business, marketing, and engineering departments to translate business objectives into system requirements and define an enterprise-wide technology approach that encompasses multiple systems and various integration points
  • Qualify, scope, and deliver new technical projects for expansion and upsells for existing customers
  • Provide technical advisory services from design, development and devops for implementations with multiple integrations and software platforms
  • Draft technical engineering plans, technical designs, and systems integration-related documents and deliverables
  • Facilitate estimate time frames, quality, and quantity of resources required to successfully implement technical projects.
  • Work closely with Product team to continuously relay feedback for improvement on product features and functions, and ensure sustained customer success
  • Ensure compliance to the solution architectural design.
  • Educate, train and provide guidance for best practice and standards to the engineering team.
  • Explain technical issues and engineering solution strategies to stakeholders, executives and other technical professionals
  • Ensure that solution architecture align with business goals
  • Review the proposal of vendors and suppliers to ensure overall lowest total cost of ownership.
  • Identify and mitigate existing business risk or risks associated with the specified solution architecture.
  • Provide advice and make decisions about which technologies would be suitable to use for various projects
  • Collaborate with project managers and other staff members to develop budgets and timelines for solutions.

The Ideal Candidate

To be a strong fit for this opportunity you will have:
  • 8-10+ years of successful technical solutions design and architecture experience required.
  • Experience with architecting native Cloud based solutions (AWS/Azure), including serverless, application containerization and cluster orchestration (k8s, aks, eks etc)
  • Demonstrated experience in building solutions that require high concurrency, high availability, clustering, load-balancing, caching, and high-performance.
  • Strong knowledge in networking protocols, network security, application layer security.
  • A solid background with UML, Domain Driven/Object Oriented Design patterns and principles.
  • Experience creating and architecting secure distributed RESTful services in an Event Driven Architecture.
  • Background in healthcare is a plus
  • Knowledge of the agile software development process
  • Expert in modeling languages such as UML/ArchiMate.
  • Ability to effectively relate technical concepts to non-technical audiences and articulating the business value of a given technical solution
  • Functional knowledge of integration systems, with experience integrating enterprise software between various software solutions
  • Experience in scoping, clarifying objectives, dealing with ambiguity/under-defined problems, advocating for simplification, and influencing teams
  • Critical thinking, and complex problem-solving ability required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills - ability to effectively communicate across internal and external business, marketing, and engineering departments
  • Strong organizational, analytical skills and the ability to work at a highly detailed level
  • Customer-first mentality; ability to empathize and create customer loyalty
